Toronto declines. Murphy is right up their alley but Willy is not the guy they need to move. Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Reilly is too many 9+ mil contracts. They have to move someone bigger than Nylander so they'll look for a trade that gets more assets for a bigger contract.

Go back to the drawing board. Leafs not motivated for this offer whatsoever. Want Nylander a team it costs a top 4 RHD +. Dubas isn’t shopping Willy but would listen to offers not lowballs.

Long term he will be but yeah I though he had 1 less year left. I thought it was 5 next year then 9+ after that. In actuality it's 5, 5, 9+, 9+

we have no idea what his number will be, its 3 years away, no idea what the cap will be, its completely irrelevant to even bring up

two years away not three, we know roughly what the cap will be, teams think ahead on cap space.

they also don't have to wait until he's about to be a free agent to resign him.
