No. Montour is god-awful defensively.

I guess you do not get to watch the Sabres much.
He had the best +/- of all Buffalo skaters.
Only Scandella had a better PDO than he.
He averaged over one hit per game.
I am not sure where this "FAKE NEWS" originated that his defense is soft. The facts do not support that belief.

I'll explain why I think he is weak defensively using some TM REL (https://mapleleafshotstove.com/toronto-maple-leafs-advanced-statistics/#skatr) stats:

His xGa was 14th percentile.
His Shots Against was 33rd percentile.
His shot share was 16th percentile.
His xGF% was 15th percentile
His xCF% was 21st percentile
His PK Rel GA was 39th percentile.

AND to top it all off he had an astounding OZone start ratio in the 77th percentile

He got hammered on defense this year and there is nothing to prove otherwise. Sure his offense is pretty good (70th percentile plus!) but the Leafs aren't in the market for another OFD. It's pretty damning when he isn't even average on a single defensive stat. Miller on the other hand is 60th-70th percentile for defensive stats, and although he kind of sucks offensively that's not what we need.

Also just so you know +/- is a really bad stat that doesn't take quality of team mates, Ozone start %, and PP/PK time into account.

Not sure, just found it a while ago. I think you might have to search each player independently, but I still rely on it a lot to compare players.
