Détails additionnels:
Voracek is still a good player but not worth 8.2, in the next 4 years this will be looked at as the Flames taking on a cap dump. How many 35 year olds are worth 8.2? He may still be a 40 point player but once again, not worth 8.2

For those that say, "Philly can just sign him in two years", to which I reply, true but there's also no guarantee he even reaches UFA, also this is the best chance they have to get out from Voracek. NYR was thought to just wait for Adam Fox to hit UFA, instead they gave up assets for him so they could have him sooner, that's the thinking here from Philly.

I would also have zero interest in JVR

You’re not getting that for Johnny. Change the first to a 3rd or something.

Actually pretty good and reasonable offer for Philly that I could see them doing. Frost I'd be sad to give up but Gaudreau would be a nice over the top kind of add. I'd love to see Giroux-Couts-Gaudreau.

It gives Philly a scary top 6. He will sign a team friendly deal in Philly too, since it's where he wants to be. Not to mention the buzz it would create having him come home

He will not get as much as you hope. The team trading the best player never wins

I wouldn't do this if I were Philly. As much as Voracek's contract scares me, I'd like to keep him, at least for now. A lot of people are saying that we should CBO him it there is one, but I strongly disagree with that. Him and Gaudreau were on pace for similar production this year. It doesn't make sense to have to pay to swap Voracek out with Gaudreau when you're a win-now team. That would be a lateral move for us as of right now. Then it would hurt our future as time goes on. I think a lot of people underestimate Voracek's leadership for the Flyers and it's definitely better than Gaudreau's, even though Gaudreau will have a lot of passion in Philly and fans will have passion for him. While Gaudreau probably had a down year, I'd still have Voracek over him just for those leadership purposes. Thornton hit 82 points when he was 36 and I like to hope that Voracek walks a similar path.

However, by the way it looks, it seems like you are trying to take on Voracek as if it would be helpful for Philly. If you take Voracek out I think Philly would accept, although it might need some salary retention to make it work. It's essentially two first round picks and that seems like a good price for Gaudreau. We'd only give up futures, never roster players. Unless of course, they're minor roster pieces and bringing in Gaudreau would still be a much bigger upgrade. Morgan Frost is one of our fan-favorite "young guys" in Philly, but we're loaded with center depth and unfortunately, as much as I love him, I think he will be on the move at some point.

Well, that's because his value is diminishing. He's turning 27 in two months and he'll only have two years left on his contract. He primarily uses skating and skill for his performance and that wears down as a player gets older. He has hardly and physicality to his game. Honestly, I think Voracek at age 30 will be better than Gaudreau at age 30 because Voracek is bigger and plays with physicality. He doesn't rely on skating and skill as much as Gaudreau does.

This statement goes both ways. Sure if Gaudreau loses a step his productivity goes down significantly. 100% fair.

Where I disagree is that Voracek will age better because he plays with physicality. Those players always break down into their 30's. Look at Simmonds, he's 31 and his game has dramatically declined. I know that Voracek plays a different game than Simmonds, but the harder a player plays the worse they age.

Gaudreau will age really well because he plays a game that puts almost zero wear and tear on his body.

Hard to see this deal being made in the current trade market. I can't think of a trade that involved a team paying one of their top prospects and a 1st for a marginal upgrade on a top-six winger. Voracek may play a more aggressive style than Gaudreau, but he relies a ton of dump and chase and forchecking. The only time Voracek isn't effective at generating chances in the zone is when he plays with players who don't apply strong pressure below the dots and help generate offense (JVR for example).

Worst case scenario Voracek declines and Philadelphia leaves him exposed at the expansion draft. Don't think the team should be moving prospects with higher upside than most for marginal upgrades.
