I think Ottawa would rather have one useless guy than two even more useless guys.

Gives them an extra expansion spot, even on money for year 1 then Eugene saves money year 2. Can flip Bjugstad for a pick at the deadline. Think it primarily depends on Ottawa's perception of Johnson

Ottawa is one of the few teams in the league where Johnson wouldn't be a downgrade on defense

Plenty of other ELC Left handed D we'd rather have/play. Behind Chabot, Wolanin, Rielly (not the good one) and Brannstrom. Plus, there is a high chance Borowiecki re-signs so he'll be our anchor for that 6th D spot.

We need Bobby to hit the floor, though. His contract is less than favorable but it's not that bad when our team barely hits the floor to begin with. Bjug and Johnson take away roster spots from some of the younger guys going forward. If you want improvement in your lineup... how about this?

Similar to the Zaitsev deal where you get out of a couple of tough contracts for expiring ones. Ottawa adds the 3rd to Pittsburgh as payment for the bonus' if there is any.

Bobby isn't useless. Just overpaid.

This is so bad for Ottawa why on earth would they do this? They give up the two better players and a 3rd. I like ZAR but this is not enough for Ottawa.

This is better from Pittsburgh point of view too. Simon/ZAR would be the best player in the overall deal, while Pittsburgh gets out from some contract term. But no big $ or names going either way.
