Its highly improbable that a compliance buy-out will be permitted. If it were, and if Holland could also move Chiasson and Russell, I am convinced he would not retain 50% of Russell's cap hit. It makes more sense to me that Russell plays out his contract as a wildly over paid 7th, and that Lagesson is traded before the Oilers lose him to a waiver claim. Of course I'd prefer to see Russell traded, and perhaps a much smaller percentage of his cap hit retained.
Benning needs to be qualified at $2,000,000, or he becomes a UFA. I suppose it's possible he'd accept less from Holland, but I think it's unlikely.
Bouchard might be ready for top 4 minutes by the end of next season, but I think assuming he will be is a pretty big gamble. Holland's track record suggests Bouchard gets limited exposure in the NHL, and only if he absolutely is one of the six best d-men at camp.
I don't see much hope that Green is back next season, even less hope that he'd accept that contract. I also suspect Ennis will move on. Holland has already signed less expensive depth forwards in the person's of Archibald, Nygard, and Haas. Honestly, I think the next task on his list for team depth is to try and move Khaira so he has room to resign Sheahan.
Holland's decisions this spring signal to me that he is not likely to have any interest in Folin.
