    Toronto says no...

    Ellis is 6 years older and this drastically closes our window to compete. If we did make a deal it would probably be:

    To Toronto:
    Ellis
    Jarnkork (50% retained)
    2nd Round Picl

    To Nashville:
    Nylander
    Johnsson
    Bracco

    No one will get me to believe trading Nylander for Ellis is anything short of a shortsighted terrible move.

    Detroit accepts. This might be the best short term goalie solution for Detroit. A swap of late draft picks for a goalie in the final year of his contract. I really like this.

    Right. If somehow we decided to trade rinne to clear cap it would be because we are comfortable enough to move saros into the starter role and Ingram would be the back up in my opinion

    I don’t think it closes your window it would make you chances better to compete for a cup for 3 or 4 years with a lot better defense. Losing a younger Nylander would hurt though

    I would do this if Nashville did want to move Ellis which I don’t think they do. With Ellis hurt last year our defense was really hurting without him and when he did come back you could see a major improvement

    So instead of giving up 1 young asset for an aging d-man, you suggest giving up 3? ... That's quite the opposite of a yes from Toronto

    Crawford is 2 years younger and has a way better save percentage, GAA, and Goals Saved vs Expectation, and a better save percentage and GSaX than Saros. He would be your number one goalie until they feel saros is ready

    he is 5 years older. it takes like 2 seconds to look this stuff up.

    also, i know free agency is different than trades, but hes actually younger than tavares.

    he is also signed longer than nylander and for less money

    your counter offer isn't bad either. although you trade 2 RW giving Bracco his chance to be a 100 point NHL player and you trade him too!

    Ellis will be 30 next year. You're paying for his decline years not his prime. Nylander is 24, Johnsson is 25, and Bracco is 23.. Leafs give up the 3 youngest players in the deal and it shortens their window to win by about 2-4 years..

    Bracco = 2nd round pick
    Johnsson = Jarnkrok
    Nylander >> Ellis

    ... it's a terrible deal for Toronto. There's other d-man out there to get who wouldn't cost as much in trade value or contract (cap hit or term) ... its a easy no from Toronto in any deal asking Nylander for Ellis

    Crawford hasn’t played a starters amount of games in 3 years so obviously his stats are going to be decent. Pekka had one bad season

    That may be but I believe with how saros was playing after the new year he was already taking over the number 1 spot from rinne with some very impressive numbers. As I said if the preds traded rinne to clear cap it would be because saros had shown enough to be our number 1 guy.

    Jeremy Bracco is worth nothing.

    He played zero NHL games his entire ELC and pretty much quit the team.

    He will be lucky to get a contract offer.

    Also, age is only one factor.

    Any trade for nylander would have to be a ridiculous overpay. Nylander loves being a leaf and the organization loves him even more. Ellis would be a great addition but it would have to involve different pieces. I just don’t see a trade that fits either way.

    For us Preds fans that were around before the Cup run, we'd likely consider selling our season tickets because of trading Peks to Detroit and signing Crawford. The only thing you could do to make it worse is sign Corey Perry.
