I personally don't think this is true, but I do understand not wanting to trade away a rookie...which somehow he still technically is this year. It really just goes to show how badly BUF was messing up his development.

As for the trade. I've probably said way too many times today that I don't want to trade for ANY goalie. (Caveat that I've already admitted I did see a DStrome Cayden Primeau trade I liked) No, I don't want to send a PIT 2nd for Murray. I'm simply not convinced he's been consistent enough to be a proven starter. Sign Crow and another vet that's not just willing, but WANTS to play in a tandem role. That "other vet" knows he'll get more ice time than in a backup role AND it's not like there's a ton of money to be handed out this summer anyway. Get the ice time and go for the big contract next year.

If he’s not untouchable then it would require an extreme overpay.

Agree there are a lot of question marks surrounding Murray. No one knows exactly what happened to him since winning those back to back cups & no one knows if he will ever fully return to that form. I guess we shall see how he does this playoffs.

I don’t think he’s been a very good regular season player, but rather a playoff performer. He’s really not what the hawks need.

I think there's no way JJ is back next year.
Also I still maintain Murray has actual value and will bring back an asset not named Strome/pick/prospect in a trade.

Well, I definitely fall on the side of him not being untouchable. He’s still the losing piece of that trade to me. He’s lazy and hasn’t come close to living up to his potential. Does that fall on buffalo? A big piece of it does, yes. But what exactly have we done with him that’s any different?

As far as extreme overpayment to get him goes, I mean, what does that look like? Nylander isn’t worth much given how the last three years have gone, and that includes this season. It’s definitely not a question of him being worth an overpayment, that’s obvious. It’s a just a matter saving our own asses for making a deeply flawed trade.

Can you stop hating on all of the young Blackhawks for just a minute? You don’t know him personally, and you obviously didn’t pay attention to him play this season because he did not play lazy. Your hanging onto the negative narrative that came along with his trade, and I don’t see it as being truthful. He is still young and I believe he will be a big piece going forward. I also believe the Blackhawks brass agree with my thinking too, hence he is untouchable.

Okay, Stan, relax, I still love boqvist, beaudin, Mitchell, kurashev, plenty of youngsters. Cat too. Don’t get defensive over my dislike of TWO players. I sure as **** hope Blackhawks brass believes in him, they made a **** trade to get him. But on the same token, don’t be a fan who overvalues a kid because he has a high draft spot attached to him.

Your opinion of him is absolutely valid and it’s good to have faith in him. I don’t like the trade, I always liked joker, and I’m not a fan of him. Ya know what? I don’t have to like him, he can keep growing. I never liked bickell. I’m just praying he actually proves me wrong, cuz I do love players of his archetype.

Agreed, Great convos. I don’t hate the majority of them though. I love boqvist, beaudin, Mitchell, kurashev, vlasic, even regula. There’s just two I’m definitely fond of, and all the hawks fans definitely know who I’m talking about 😂

Love the Mariotti reference

Covers a lot of ground for a guy his size with his skating. He’s not just another “big body” defenseman, he can poke check very well and is mobile. Scoring may not be much of a huge upside for him, but I do like his ability to move the puck both with his skating and passing.
