I think Laine will be sniffing 100 points multiple times in his career and be up for many Maurice Richard trophies, Nico if he tops out is an 80 point two-way centerman capable of challenging for a few Selke's. depends what you value more, Devils need to acquire goal scorers at some point.

I like this trade but think it would depend on who NJ drafts. If they get Strutzle or Rossi and think he will replace Nico then go for it. If you get Raymond or Drysdale then you keep Nico to be 1B with Hughes

This trade is as ugly as it can get. Plus, I'd rather go for Ehlers or Connor if I really want to make a deal with WPG.

NJ would be insane to make that trade. A guy you drafted #1 overall who is a solid top 6 C already and has significant upside, a top 4 defenseman, a 1st rd pick, and a prospect for a winger who is notoriously hot and cold, when he is hot he’s hot, when he is cold he is COLD.

Generally speaking you crippled the C depth dealing 2 of your top 3 C’s, traded a top 4 dman, a solid bottom 6 forward and a 1st for a winger a dman and a 4th. Just don’t see that as good asset management.

yeah I don't think I would do it to be honest but that's probably what it takes to get Laine. didn't put much time into the other trades, was mostly just focused on the big one and then filling out the roster.

Man this is fair value, but damn it would hurt to see Nico go, he's been my favorite player since we drafted him. I know its not been that long but it would hurt. Thankfully this probably won't happen but the idea of getting Laine is intriguing and this is a very fair offer.

yeah I agree, I love the kid too but on the other hand Laine is one of my favourite players in the league and NJ needs a guy like that so bad. I don't know if I would do it, but it's interesting to think about.
