Kopitar

Créé par: MNBassman
Équipe: 2020-21 Wild du Minnesota
Date de création initiale: 5 juin 2020
Publié: 5 juin 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
For the record, i am not in favor of this trade. I would much prefer to keep youthful assets and picks to help establish and maintain a healthy franchise than the Wild’s typical MO of mortgaging the future for immediate “success” but i also believe Leipold would want a move like this because...well, because he’s a moron.

Anyway, I just wanted to see what a roster with Kopitar would look like...
Please assume he would waive his NMC.

You should develop your own 1st line center with those picks instead of acquiring Kopitar who will be past his prime when Kaprizov peaks

I completely agree, but the owner of the Wild lacks foresight and patience and has dictated dumbarse moves like this for years!

I'd be interested in Kopitar for the right price. I think this is to much for him though, and we'd need to get a replacement plan ASAP. Fenton and Fletcher failed to do that when we signed Staal and it has bit us in the ass

What would you be willing to give up for him?

I'm not sure how my fellow Wild fans feel, but I really would be disappointed if we traded Khovanov. I was really impressed with him this year. I see his potential rising tremendously and feel he could be an answer at center for us down the road.

Value is probably right. I don't think it really matters at the end of the day. Kopitar seems to me like a lifer who won't waive for anywhere and won't be asked to waive either. He's still playing real good, only under contract for 4 more years which I think he can still be relevant for them during that time, is a great mentor for Turcotte and Vilardi etc.

I think Kopitar would be an insane addition to any team as he still has good hockey in him, even at 10M but man it would be tough to convince him out of LA. He's already won it all, he's the captain, he's a lifer, he's living in sunny Cali........ Can't fathom him wanting to move or even management wanting to ask him. The rebuild is already well on its way, they don't need to do this.

Not Khovanov for sure, he's one of my favorite prospects we have. At this point in his career and with his contract I don't think he's worth much more than Pit's first, a prospect like Addison and maybe a player like Donato. LA fans would probably want more though

Also, I don't know how I feel about acquiring Kopitar. We run the risk of Kopitar regressing by the time the rest of our youngsters reach their prime. Plus by that time we'll have Parise, Suter, Spurgeon, Zucc and then Kopitar all with a combined cap hit of around $38.5 Million. This whole COVID-19 pandemic may affect the salary cap over the next few years as they try to replenish league wide revenue. Imagine having 5 out of their prime players taking up nearly half your cap space.

I could be wrong, it could be exactly what we need but on a Pro's and Con's list that Con is very alarming.

It was very long spring so I haven't had the inkling to go get out yet. Sold me cottage two years ago so I didn't even do much fishing last year. Just spoke to a buddy who has a cottage, where my boat is kept and he plans to open the cottage in a week or two. And that time I hope to be able to get away. Of course the Covid thing might put a hamper on everyone plans. My wife went to a long care nursing home in November so I had only video chats with her since mid March. So schedule wise, a lot depends of wife assess, friends cottage availability, and my motivation.
Thanks for asking.

I think it is Bill Guerin's job to talk Liepold out of these kinds of trades.

If Lundell is taken before the Wild's pick this year then I'd think hard about this trade. The Pit 1st seems like too much on top on MN's 1st. I have no problem parting with the players you are trading away.

I don't see LA/Kopitar saying yes to this trade though. It's all risk for LA and why would Kopitar want to leave where he's at for MN?

Thanks bud. Carol who is my age 65, showed symptoms of Alzheimers five years ago. So we kinda new the path that was before us. Her mood has been and still is remarkably good throughout. Her nursing home has shown excellent care and is just a mile from my house. Before Covid I would spend 4 hours a day with her, and now it's just a about three hours a week with video chat.
I've been holding up well in large part is that she receives excellent care and she seems to be happy. I have been "self isolating" with a good friend, so I have some support, plus members my family are close by.
