how good is brickley?

i feel like this could work with someone like Wagner instead?

Leddy himself is what, 2 2nds approx? Komarov removes 1 of em... so i think this could work if the asset is more nhl ready

Leddy might get a 3rd without salary retained, but which team wants Leddy declining big time for 2 years at 5.5M ... LA doesn’t need Leddy, they need prospects or picks

More foolishness of dumping cap. LA can spend 8.5m a lot better than on those two guys. Somehow there is illusion that teams with cap just want to take on questionable cap players. Lots of teams want to dump, LA/Wings/Ottawa can do much better in trade...and heck they might get a sweetener and not give up anything. Buyers market.

Leddy is not in decline, he is still one of the fastest d in the NHL. If it wasn’t for salary cap issues Isles would not be looking to move him. Leddy in a different system returns to a 40 point Dman.

I would do this. It's not a lot but the key is cap space.

Leddy isn't worth 2 2nds.

Brickley was a promising defensive prospect. He missed some time due to injury, then his father died during the season and he missed some more time, so it set his development back a bit. He was playing really well in the AHL for the dozen or so games prior to the season getting canceled though.

He's similar to a Rob Scuderi/Derek Forbort/Justin Schultz type defenseman. Large body, but not overly physical. Good stick, blocks a lot of shots, always in good position. Best case 2LD, but probably more of a 3rd pairing guy.

Don't think the Kings would give up someone like Wagner for Leddy. The Kings want a veteran LHD with experience that can come in and fill the gap until Bjornfot is ready in a season or two. Ideally they want someone that previously played in a top pairing/leadership role, but is on the back end of his career and whose play is on the decline. They could get someone in free agency without having to give up assets, but I think they'd jump at the chance to get a guy like Leddy or Hjalmarsson, especially if it doesn't cost them any higher-end assets.

Brickley is probably an NHL quality defenseman, but he's a project. The development of guys like Anderson, Hults, and Clague has made him expendable to LA.

FYI, I'm a Kings fan and would likely do this trade.
