Geo is a stopgap so that a young rebuilding defense has some security while getting Johnsson is the definition of buying low. He's 25, a 20 goal scorer burried on the 3rd line, and will only cost a 3rd given his injuries. Seem's like a smart move for the future to me. Also, by pulling the plug now and not in 2-3 yrs SJS can get back to contention before those 2 are out of their primes.

Unlikely. Burns and Vlasic will still be on the books in 2-3 years and much worse than they are now, leaving no room to improve this absolutely awful offense. You can pray that Dobson and Wahlstrom both pan out to their ceilings but its doubtful. Goergiev will be a UFA and will leave the team without a goalie unless Melnichuck fully is ready by then.
