The only way the Canucks consider this (and I actually don't really mind the idea that much tbh) is if they know Trouba would be happy to play out his career in VAN (not likely), and if the league grants a CBO for them to get rid of Eriksson's contract. They wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

I think Trouba is over-rated, but he would do well playing with Hughes. I would think the Rangers need to add here and that the Canucks would have signed Taffoli

Looks like a good trade. Probably benefits Rangers more though as they have the readymade RHD replacements (Fox/DeAngelo/Lundkvist) and they get rid of an inflated contract.
