ericksson before the start of this season told van not to trade him to Edm since he has a NTC. For 2020-21, it becomes a 15 no trade list which I believe Edmonton will be in

Everyone would rather have Neal than Eriksson This trade makes no sense.

Also ... I’m not sure Kesler will play again (Toronto will be a good fit)

Van would also be a good fit. That part would help us a lot. If Ana wants to get a 4th line player for an empty contact we would do that but Ana would be committing to being 6 million off the cap for a few years. makes it very unlikely.

If this could happen great. If Ducks don’t want LTIR for Kesler & the Oil want a defensive PK guy like Eriksson that works for me. Comes down to Neal if the Oil want to shift gears.

Having LTIR for Kesler after day 1 could come in very handy to manage the cap flexibility.

Ericksson has one year less contract, and it is $8M in salary vs $17.5M in salary. There are very strong reasons for Edmonton to make that trade.

Neal is a hockey player who was on pace for 30 goals. I don't understand why this would be a bad contract swap for EDM. This isn't a math deal for them.

Look at Neal past the last 5 minutes.

Dallas moved him if a very Pittsburgh friendly trade.
First thing Rutherford did as Pens GM was trade him away.
Nashville put a bow on him for Vegas to take.
Vegas had no intention on resigning him.
Calgary had instant buyers remorse after signing him.
Calgary actually TOOK LUCIC in order to get Neal off of the team.

The lucic neal trade has been called one of the most lopsided trades in NHL history, this year. Maybe you SHOULD look at the last 5 minutes.

By who? James Neal's mom? Neal is a guy that every team that has had him has quickly wanted to get rid of him. Via trade, via trade, via the blessing of expansion, via FA, via trade (for Lucic).

Whatever you are thinking... nope.

"... most lopsided trades in NHL history" That's hysterical. Not even on just a Neal discussion standpoint. Just in general. The pure lunacy of that statement is lunacy.

I just have to assume your a flames fan that thinks taking penalties is a good thing. There's no other explanation. A bottom 6 forward for a top PP unit guy. One was on pace for 30 goals, one was on pace for 30 points. Hits are fine. They help. But someone who says Calgary took Lucic to get Neal off their team and ignores Edm took Neal to get Lucic off their team has no chance of understanding this. I'm not gonna respond to this anymore.

I follow Pens and Caps. The Pens, as in Neal's "best" years. I didn't ignore the Edmonton side, they were happy that someone was desperate enough to take Lucic. Desperate enough to get rid of Neal that they would take Lucic.

If Neal is so great, why would Calgary trade him for Lucic? Because you are flat wrong about Neal.

Real life isnt like video game hockey.
