Too much money for Duclair. He wasn't producing at all at the end of the season. I'd sign him to another 1 year 2.5M deal before signing him long term. Especially if he's gonna be asking for 5M.

I'm not a fan of taking Lapierre in round 1. His skillset has never wowed me, and he's a huge risk with his injuries. There are better players on forward and defense who don't convey that same risk.

Lapierre has top 10 potential talent, mind you he's a pass first kind of guy and doesn't shoot enough but the pass is always on the tape. His injuries will lower his value for sure but his most recent one wasn't actually a concussion like it originally announced to be. IMO if Ottawa is taking 2 forwards with those top top 5 picks they should draft a RD with the 3rd one. I like the potential on Barron and Schnieder is also a good option. Grans is also a dark horse since he has a really high floor.

I have never seen "top 10" talent from him. He's been good not great when healthy. I think a lot of that hype really started surrounding his play at the Hlinka, but I think that was a result of him playing with Cole Perfetti. I think people put way too much stock into the Hlinka anyway.

I think his skillset is on that was safely projectable as a good 3C at minimum, and a good 2C at his top. He's a safe pick, but he's not really a safe pick because of serious injury concerns.

to each their own, I think he has a higher ceiling but lower floor then Zary and Holloway. He has a solid 2-way game. I see a lot of Ryan Johansen in him.
