How do they still have 6 bad contracts? Cause they were a bad team for a while and theres no real reason to pay to move them when you arnt going to be winning anyway.

I'm not a Benning fan but that's pretty dramatic.

Myers deal might hurt them down the road but he was good for them this year and wasn't an overpay, most thought he would be more expensive.

Baertschi deal looked good at the time, and one of the few trades he won. Concussion sidelined him and they got better depth. He is a useful NHLer and should probably be in the league.
Roussel is a bit overpaid but pretty far down the list of bad contracts in the league.

Sutter, Beagle and Eriksson for sure are bad deals and have been from day one. He's had other bad deals too but the recent ones have been better.

Benning definitely makes up in the draft what he lacks in signings... sure you can put some of that credit to Brackett, but benning is a large part of this.

That said, pretty much all of these contracts looked tolerable at the start. Usually I haven't liked the term all that much, but the price has initially been good. The players later on just didn't live up to it. There's some work to do to remove some of these contracts... I'm really interested to see what happens

They turned things around quicker than they expected and now these contracts are a huge issue

The Myers contract isn’t good. He’s like a #4 D man and he’s getting paid long term. He’s not a good defender and puts up about 30 points. Certainly not worth 6 million. It was bad from day one. Rousel last year was a good depth player but he fell off this year. That’s why you don’t pay depth guys that much for that many years. Baertschi Probably should be in the NHL, idk why he’s not. But still they’re paying an AHLer 3.33 million with term. Whether he deserves to be in the NHL or not

He played similar to a 4-5M defenseman this year. Overpaid, yeah. Drastically? No. I think the term is long by maybe a year

Sutter, Brandon --- I never liked the Bonino trade from the start. Never looked good. Sutter's injuries mired his skillset, and thus never lived up to what could have been an OK contract
Roussel, Antoine -- This one I am OK with. Last year he was a very good asset for the team. Slower this year... likely a lingering injury. Wouldn't call this all that brutal though, maybe 1 year too long
Eriksson, Loui --- We all thought this was a good signing at first.
Baertschi, Sven -- Another one that was probably a year too long. Sven worked good in our makeshift top 6... but he was never a long term solution.
Beagle, Jay -- I never liked the beagle signing... shouldn't have to pay a guy a premium because of a team accomplishment. Good faceoff winner and PK guy, but so is the 2M cheaper Motte
Myers, Tyler -- as mentioned, an overpay, but not necessarily a "bad" contract.... yet

    He’s a 30 point offensive D. That’s not worth 6 million. Not even close

    he's fairly two dimensional. As I said.. he's a 4-5M defenseman.
