Strome

Créé par: Josh
Équipe: 2020-21 Rangers de New York
Date de création initiale: 3 juin 2020
Publié: 3 juin 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
This season, Strome put up 59 points in 70 games, a pace of .84 ppg. Points - tied for 21st in the league, right behind Tavares, O'Reilly, Barkov, etc. He had undeniably chemistry with Panarin, and also emerged as one of the leaders in the lockerroom. Statistically, this has been one of the most productive seasons the Rangers have had from a center in the last 20 years, only behind Stepan's strike shortened season, Zibanejad this season and last, and... Scott Gomez's first season as a Ranger.

The Rangers are not at a point where they are going to continue to stockpile picks. They need guys that can play, and be productive, Now.

Additional $1m that can be split between Strome & ADA, or a call-up or depth player.

Give him 2 years at $4.75 mil to see if his production continues. Away from Panarin he sucks

I'd do that, sure. I'd also be willing to go to arbitration. I can't see that being much more than $5m, for max 2 years. 2 years lets you know where Chytil is in his development, and you can re-address a Strome extension with Lundqvist, Staal and Smith all off the cap.

Whilst Strome does have the speed and playmaking ability to keep up with fast players, it seems to me like Strome is a sub-0.5ppg player up to now who's had one inflated year while riding shotgun with Panarin. There are many tell-tale signs of this being a one-off career year for him, including:

- His career average is 0.52ppg. This season he's at 0.84 ppg.
- His last 6 seasons his points totals were 28, 30, 34, 35, 35, and 59....... Not hard to spot the outlier.
- This season he is being spoon-fed minutes with sheltered offensive minutes with 54.6 oZS% and 19:35 ATOI, by far the highest in his career.
- Shooting % in 2 years with Rangers is 15.4%, which is 5.1% higher than his career average.
- 104.4 PDO this season, which is 9th highest in the league among forwards with at least 50 games.
- He has raked in PP points playing with Panarin, Zibanejad, and Deangelo, with 14 PP assists. Before this season he had only 26 PP assists in 7 seasons combined. Needless to say it's likely that he sees a big drop in points once Kaako or Chytil take his PP1 time.

All of those combined are signs of a player with heavily inflated stats, and it's unlikely that he'd be anything more than a 35-40 point player without PP1 time and tons of offensive ice time.

That all said, Rangers are probably better off keeping him than trading him, but I'd only sign him to a ~2 year contract so as to not overcommit on him.

Neither Strome nor DeAngelo should get more than Zibanejad's 5.35 per. This scenario allows that to happen, even without a buyout.

yeah. i agree without Panarin hes no better than Lars Eller. i wouldnt pay him more than 3.5m max. He can decide if he would rather get overpaid and be burden or stay with the Rangers sign for a reasonable deal and have fun and score a ton of points.

He was 40th among all forwards in even strength points. That's 2nd line on every team in the NHL.

Sounds like Strome from 3 years ago. His play this season was drastically different. Even when he wasn't playing with Panarin, his off the puck play, and his ability to set-up and make teammates better was apparent.

Wings may give up Edmonton 2nd rounder but I doubt they give up 1st pick in 2nd round for a goalie.

Yes Detroit needs a goalie but I don't see Yzerman trading that pick its basically a 1st round pick. Maybe Yzerman trades Washington's 2nd round pick. I'm not saying Georgiev isn't worth that but has a lot of needs and with Bernier playing like he is they can wait a season before they really need to address their goalie situation. Who knows maybe Larsson will ready by then.

That may be the case, but 54.6 oZS% and 19:35 ATOI playing next to Panarin could inflate anyone's stats.

He's also outshooting his career average by 5.1%, and his 104.4 PDO (9th highest in the league among forwards with at least 50 games) also suggests that he's been very lucky and ripe for a fall in production back to normal levels next year.

Not saying that he's a bad player, and the truth is probably somewhere between what I'm saying and him being 40th in scoring, but I can guarantee you that these are stats that will be brought up in negotiations by Rangers' GM to push his AAV down.

Many analysts believe this years draft has a tier between 23-45 with numerous players bunched up together and being worthy late 1st round picks, so I doubt teams are too keen on trading top 45 picks in general, as they are effectively a late 1st if scouting analysts are to be believed.

Can get away with 22, not 21 players.
Need to expect, at minimum, Igor and Fox bonus coverage.

3 years ago? He’s had 1 good year.... playing with Panarin. Eller also isn’t a scrub he had a 40+ point pace this year.
