they will just keep Halak, hes a better back up and they are not burning a 2nd round pick (which is a gross overpayment)

They also have Vladar in the system and he's only 22yr old, but already has 4 years of pro hockey under his belt. Then they have Swayman (2020 Hobey Baker Finalist and Mike Richter Award Winner) and Kyle Keyser, who was one of the top goalies in the OHL a few years ago. Between the 3 of them, one should be Rask's back-up when Halak's contract expires.

De Smith went through waivers to start the year and no one wanted him...no team is giving a 2nd for a teams 3rd goalie.

I think Halak just signs a nice 1 year deal with the Bruins to stay, seems like he has a good spot there and is comfortable with Tukka. One of the best platoons in the league

I will challenge that by asking what's really in the system after Rask and Halak? Both are aged.

DeSmith maybe a downgrade on Halak, but he is a decade younger than both Rask ans Halak..... with potential to improve his game.

I would agree the 2nd is an overpayment given the current market, but I wouldn't call it gross either. Boston's 2nd will still likely fall in around picks 55-62. A 3rd here wouldn't be enough. Maybe a lafe round pick comes back - but given where the Bruins are likely to finish and with DeSmith being in his mid 20s..... it's prett close.

Title says "Eye on the Future"..... and this deal hits that nail on the head.

so it looks like you'd be signing DeBrusk to a 4 x 3.5 deal. And.....that's not realistic. You're looking at about 5 mil to get 4 years from Debrusk.

I'd think something closer to that for Kase as well.

Aside from that, this is fine.

your challenge is rejected bc Bruins have goalies in the system and a 2nd round pick can go a long way to get someone of better value and younger than De Smith.
trading 2nd round picks for AHL goalies is not eyes on the future, its I dont know about the Bruins farm system so I am going to just toss out a random trade

side note, De Smith had a .905 in the AHL last year...Bruins 22 year old goalie prospect Vladar, had a .936 in 25 starts. So if you want to talk about Eyes on the Future, they have their back up in waiting already in Pro Hockey

Ya we're in good shape for next year with Halak returning. It gives the young guys in the B's system a chance to get another year of development.

didnt realize Vlad had a .936 in 25 AHL starts last year, thats super promising for a 22 year old.

Dan Vladar - 22yr old & 6'5 was one of the top goalies in the AHL last year w/ a 1.79 GAA & .936 SV%

Jeremy Swayman - 21yr old & 6'3 was the 2020 Mike Richter Award winner (best goalie in college hockey) and was a Hobey Baker finalist. 3yrs at Maine where he was the program and kept the team in games they had no business being in

Kyle Keyser - 21yr old & 6'2 made the jump to pro hockey this year and suffered a concussion and missed most of the season. In final year in the OHL he was a top 3 goalie and had numbers that were very close to UPL, who is considered one of the top goalie prospects.

He had an insane year in the AHL and the hope is that he turned a corner. The previous year he had a .898 SV%, but the two years before that he was a .924 SV% and a .921 SV%

No worries, a lot of people are when it comes to Boston's prospect pool. Mostly because "experts" don't rank it high because it doesn't have the flashy names that others do and most of their top flight prospects (age wise) are already in the NHL.

Goaltending is actual probably their 2nd strongest position. Again Vladar had a great year, Swayman was the best goalie in NCAA and nearly was named the best player in NCAA this year. Keyser had an injury season, but last year was as good in the OHL as UPL, who by many "experts" is one of the top goalie prospects.

I would say off the top, that’s a super optimistic cap number for that season. Beyond that, it’s certainly a really fun team, and of course i would love Gallagher on the Bs.
I think if you’re getting Rask for 2 years, it’s probably more like a 9 million price tag.

Other than that, i think you can ditch the Fitzgerald re-signing, but this looks good.

Well good news is Rask is still only 33 and probably still has another 3-4 years in him.

I like both Gallagher and Krug a lot. But not that much love. That’s too much.

Ditto on Vladar and Swayman Walter Brown winner. Looking good.

Like creative armchair rosters. A+ on creativity.
