Connor Brown isnt remotely the same type of player Gally is, Gally is basically Brad Marchand lite

This.

Gallagher is a poor man's Marchand. and when you think about it, Marchand was a late bloomer all things considered. He didn't hit 80pts+ seasons untill after he turned 29 (arrival of Pasta didn't hurt...). looking at Gallagher (28), taking into consideration his finger injuries that plagued him for 2 seasons awhile back, If he could get similar linemates to Marchand, I wouldn't put it past him to achieve over a point per game rate. Marchand still has better hand / stick skills though.

Off the top of my head; Marchand plays a similarish type of game (though a bit more skilled/finesse type). I think Bertuzzi is another guy who's game might be comparable.

There really aren't that many, he's pretty much a small power forward/grinder with skill and underrated hockey IQ.

What do you think his trade value would be?

I think MTL and Bergevin wouldn't trade him unless they received an offer they couldn't refuse (a stupidly excessive overpay).

He represents pretty much everything Bergevin looks for in a player; leadership, determination and tenacity. I doubt he leaves MTL anytime soon.

No worries, although I'm afraid I don't know enough about Detroit's organization to have the most accurate info on how they view him internally. Wings fans would have a better idea.

IMO he would be another case of a player the team is very happy with and not really looking to shop. These types of players usually are well liked by management & coaches. Plus his age means he is likely fits into their long-term plans as a leader and role model for their young prospects, as well as still being in his prime by the time they look to contend.

I think the trade value for Gallagher is about right.
But the question is can MB make the trade and not get fired?
