Description

I'm only going with a 22-man roster because the Avalanche can bring up Bowers, Dickinson, Henry and Timmins for 9-game auditions.

Next year, essentially Landeskog gets Calvert's money and Makar gets Cole's money. GM Joe Sakic will still have plenty of cash to re-up Grubauer if he desires.

I thought about trading Zadorov to the Florida Panthers for MacKenzie Weegar, but I got lazy since the outline of the Kings trade has been more or less agreed upon by the respective fan bases.

I think Miller has the potential to be a solid little pick up for the right team, should he be traded. Buffalo got him for what I thought at the time was quite cheap, and his value has only gone down since.

If we're going to trade for a LD with a near $4m caphit we might as well just resign Zadorov. Byram needs to have a role too, rather than being 7D on nacho duty.

Kamenev is a nice little player, but he needs to go to a team that can give him more minutes, so he likely gets traded for like a 4th or 5th round pick.

Am I missing something? Miller's caphit is $3.875m which is most certainly going to be higher than Zadorov's cap hit.

As for the 3rd pairing role, whichever one we go with either way they are going to be overpaid for a 3rd pairing role and also left unprotected in the ED, which is one of the reasons for needing to move Zadorov this offseason in the first place.

Yes, you're missing something -- what I was talking about. Zadorov brings in a second and a third, Miller costs a third and a sixth.

As to cap hits, I'm betting Zadorov gets $4 million or more on his new contract.

Zadorov has 27 points across 2 seasons. There's very little chance that he gets $4m. Just look at the contracts Morrissey ($3.25m) and Butcher ($3.75m) got with twice as many points.
