Ladd Gone Perreault for Leddy

Créé par: ForsbergForVezina
Équipe: 2020-21 Islanders de New York
Date de création initiale: 2 juin 2020
Publié: 2 juin 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Wahlstrom and Bellows fight it out for the spot Wahlstrom currently holds on the roster. If they're both better than Perreault (likely tbh), he can be shopped around/waived

Is that package enough to move Ladd? I'd be willing to add more

I really like the idea of something around Perreault for Leddy. I actually just posted something similar, funny enough.

The Ducks trade is somewhat unrealistic, and I'd rather have Andy Greene than Sebastian Aho.

I hope not

I thought I heard that the chances of that being revisited were slim and I really don't think the Islanders have the cap space to do it. I was barely able to fit this team under the cap

If I remember right it involved the Islanders 1st to which is now gone anyways. Seeing this just brought it back to memory. Think Lou has a plan in place already, everyone's just waiting to see how this schedule shakes out.

They have to try to move him, especially if there's no CBO. If there is, you keep bury him and use it on Boychuk, but I can't see it so moving him is priority number 2 after getting the RFAs signed. I truly do believe he's going to end up on LTIR before long too.

As for Greene vs. Aho, I guess it could go either way. Realistically, yeah, Greene probably gets brought back but Aho has earned a shot and I think he's capable of NHL minutes.

Ladd you mean? Yeah definitely. I don't know how but Lou can send him to Robidas Island. I just can't think of a trade like that where a guy who actually is somewhat healthy gets traded with two prospects. Usually the contract gets moved, not the player (if that makes sense).

I just don't trust Aho, I couldn't believe they didn't get him one game after Pelech got hurt. Greene I would think is open to a cheap one-year deal to stay in the area and play for a better team than NJ.

I hope you're wrong lol. I like Parise but I just can't see a scenario where this team swallows another giant cap hit for a guy who is probably at the end of his prime, even if Ladd is going the other way. If it was a pure 1 for 1 (which I can't imagine), I'd feel better. But giving up assets for something that is going to screw us big time in a couple seasons doesn't make me feel good about it

I just think everything is going to pile up for Ladd sooner rather than later. Tearing your ACL at 33 is hard to come back from and I applaud him for being able to do it. But he's had a lot of injuries over the past couple seasons, combined with already having been sent to the minors. Can't say anything with certainty though. Hopefully he's totally fine and can continue his career, be it on Long Island or elsewhere

Can't be true. Isles traded for Pageau in the morning, then an hour or two afterward the rumors of Parise-for-Ladd came out. Couldn't have involved the Isles 2020 1st at least.

But I do agree that Lou must have something planned. He wouldn't have extended Pageau and gone after Parise if he didn't have other pieces figured out.

Not getting rid of Ladd for that; it's gonna cost Dobson or a 1st+.

Not sure where Carter would play in the Islanders’ lineup but from a value standpoint I guess it could work

The 1st in 21 (top-3/5 protected) + Wilde could work for me if there’s literally no other way. Dobson is off limits

Could buy him out (his contract isn't buyout proof like Ladd's) or send him to the AHL. He's actually recovering from a long-term core injury right now, and was ruled out for completing the season if it resumed (prior to them announcing that the Kings were done for the year). It's possible that he could finish out the contract on LTIR.

The Kings could use Leddy (they're looking to add a veteran LHD), and could obviously use a 1st round pick, and they're not looking to give up any picks or futures. They won't need the cap space for the next 2-3 years, so they could easily eat Ladd's contract for the next 3 seasons. They'd probably give him a brief look to see if he had any chemistry with Kopitar or Vilardi, then stash him in the AHL for the remainder of his contract. That team is very young and talented, and they could use the veteran leadership presence down there.

I'm not sure if a team would take him for a 1st + Wilde. I think that the Islanders will make the playoffs next year so that 1st would probably be low in the round.

Maybe 1st in 21 (top 10 protected) + Wilde + 2nd in 22.

Perreault is definitely over priced but he's still a useful player. Leddy has not been good for 5 years. His possession numbers have been declining for 5 straight years. As has his expected goals and high danger chance shares. Now his points are gone as well. He's done as an NHLer, better players are coming up that cost less. You are paying a price to move him. He has no value. Much like Ladd and Boychuk as well. Give it 3 years and Eberle, Lee, Bailey and Nelson will likely be on that list as well. Way to go Lou!

The 2021 1st is overkill but I like the idea of giving up Ladd for a bad contract at less term or money. I would do this if the 2021 1st was something lesser, like a 3rd or a couple of B-prospects.

Seems like a lot but if that’s what it takes....

We need the cap space this year and next
