As people have already said, 2 more years is huge. It's better for team control for the future. And 1.5 million is a lot more than you realize when it comes to role players. You're ability to get a more quality depth player(s) is tremendously impacted. THAT'S why 1.5 million matters.

Eichel didn’t play with Skinner this year, only in the last two games.
Eichel has played with Folgnio, Moulson, Cal O’Reilly, Jordan Nolan, Zemgus Girgenson. Sure he has had some good players like Reinhart, Olofsson and with Skinner in 18-19. But he’s definitely been put into a horrible situation, compared to Matthews.
