I think it hinges on how he feels his role in New York is going to play out with Kaapo expected to become a top-six winger and both Gauthier and Kravtsov needing roles in the top-nine. I think it's pretty contingent on how well he expects the Rangers to perform over the course of something like a three-year deal: is he fine with spending the first year being on a tweener team before getting a chance at the playoffs or would he rather collect pay elsewhere to win now?

What's most likely is that Fast ends up elsewhere due to the Rangers not having the cash to keep him. Deangelo is going to cost north of what you've offered him regardless of term, and next year's RFA class is going to take a chunk out of whatever cap space is feed up by Staal walking and the Shattenkirk buyout evaporating.

Pretty expensive ask from the Flames for Georgiev. I think you get either the 2nd Rounder or Kylington, not both.

Rangers can't afford to keep all their RFA's let alone keeping Fast. He and Strome are Cap Casualties. Both gone.

You have Kakko/Kravtsov/Gauthier who all need top 9 minutes in order to develop.

Quinn's not going to play Fast on the 4th line if he's on the roster. So as much as I/everyone loves Fast, if you want to develop your high ceiling RW's you have to let Fast go. If you want a solid RW who can do what Fast does on the 4th line, Stefan Noesen will cost about a third of what Fast will.

Problem is that our RW lineup for next year could look like this: Kakko, Buchnevich, Kravtsov and Gautthier

We need help at LW, because I'm not sure Lemieux and Di Giuseppe can be our 3LW and 4LW all season long.

Maybe you play Kravstov at LW so Fast can be 3RW but then again Quinn might play Fast above Kakko...

Yeah that's true. However if we want to contend next year it'll be very hard to do that if we get injuries

Correct, I don't think we're done with the rebuild until Staal/Smith/Hank are off the books. It's why it's important that Chytil gets top 6 mins and Kakko/Kravtsov/Gauthier all play in the top 9 (meaning no Fast/Strome) so that when the time comes that we *are* contending, they're actually ready.

At this point, you save them spots in the top 9 and back fill your bottom 6 vacancies with cheap short term options.

Gauthier is a steal IMO

Plus who do you keep between Trouba/ADA? cause if you keep both maybe one of Lundkvist or Miller won't have much room in our lineup, never mind top 4 minutes...

Deangelo no question is the one you keep if you're getting rid of one. If you're trying to keep both, you move Trouba to LHD. Lundkvist or Miller might need AHL time. But it's fine to play Miller/Lundkvist on the bottom pair if they're playing behind Deangelo/Trouba/Lindgren/Fox. It's *not* OK if they're playing behind Staal or Smith.

Keep him, hes a winning player, we can't afford more than 2 seasons though, after then we can reassess
