They really need a feature on this site that blocks you from publishing an ACGM with trades that have been rejected by one side of the trade's fanbase every single time it's posted.

Wild don't want any of the Leafs wingers and Kerfoot only makes sense if we strike out on every trade option and Galchenyuk wants out. He'd be a last resort, basically.

And giving up Staal to get him is counter-productive.

The reality is there isn't a trade to be made between the Wild and Leafs unless the Leafs are willing to move Nylander, Tavares, or Matthews and news flash they aren't.

and the wild have literally nothing the Leafs would remotely consider trading those guys for outside of Spurgeon, and that's only Nylander

I'm a big fan of Staal. He brings veteran experience like Spezza, can be a good role model in the room for Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Kappy, is a better center than Kerfoot, he is from Thunder Bay, so it may be easier for his family to watch games through flying domestic, rather than flying internationally/driving across the border

I'd consider Staal + pick for Johnsson + Liljegren

Doesn't net you the center in return, but gives you a player that can put up 35-45 points and a solid defensive prospect

Teams are making trades so its easier for a family to watch, this trade is bad for both teams. Maybe Leafs look at Staal when hes a UFA next offseason but theres no trade to be made here

Why trade Liljegren for a rental 3C when we already have a solid 3C and need RD?

Thinking that Staal would like Toronto, then take a deal reminiscent of Spezza to stay. Maybe something between league min and 2M, giving Toronto more options to fill needs next season. Leafs need to shed 3M (which I think will be Mango), and the Leafs have a logjam on defense (as weird as that sounds). Liljegren will probably spend another year or two in the AHL, while Sandin/Muzz/Dermott/Rielly take up the majority of the minutes in the NHL.
He did have a decent year in the AHL last season, so he could be worth hanging onto, but I've always been a massive fan of Eric Staal. So you can call it a bit of bias/stupidity. Whatever you think works

I'm sure there's a team that could use a middle 6 left wing, the Wild just isn't one of them.

Yeah I’m pretty sure a team will jump on a guy that had one good year and then Tearing his ACL this year.

I’m sure teams will be clawing and scratching for him even though no team has any idea if his knee will ever be the same again.
Oh not to mention they would love to pay him 4 million as well. 🤦🏼‍♀️

He was on pace for 40 points as well this year before he shredded his knee. It's also closer to 3M than 4M. It's not unreasonable price point for a 40 point player

I think Wild would consider a swap of one of the many LWs they have for Kapanen, I also think Wild would consider trading for Kerfoot as long as it doesn't involve moving Staal, our lack of center depth being the problem that it is.
These are the other pieces that would interest the Wild.
Mathews
Marner
Nylander
Liljegren
Sandin
I'm sure many of these pieces aren't for sale at a reasonable price, but if you can figure out a way to make a trade with Minnesota that involves some of these pieces that makes sense for both teams then you have something

Keep in mind Wild GM Guerin says he is doing a retool not a rebuild, which usually means the GM is looking for younger talent not big contracts, maybe not established players yet but definitely NHL ready.

I actually like Kerfoot better at center than Chucky.
Also if Wild could swap out a lefty for a righty something like Greenway and a bit more for Kapanen then I'd be all for that as well.
This trade though is a no go.

I like Kerfoot the player more than Galchenyuk the player, but I like Galchenyuk and keeping the picks/players it would take to acquire Kerfoot over Kerfoot. I do like Kapanen a lot though
