Dallas declines. Brent Burns contract is atrocious, and Dallas already has one of those on their roster (Jamie Benn). Dallas is also extremely thin on goal scorers, so losing Gurianov would be a pretty significant blow to their forward group. Add to that the smaller pieces in the trade, and the pieces being moved simply don't benefit Dallas enough to warrant them taking on a $40M contract over the next 5 years.
Dallas also has to be cautious of the expansion draft. If they were to acquire Burns that leaves them with 4 defensemen to protect. With all the NMC's they have on the roster the only realistic protected list they'll submit includes only 3 defensemen. This means they would be losing one of Lindell, Heiskanen, Klingberg, or Burns.
Trading this package for Burns has some negative consequences in the short & long-term for Dallas.
