Brassard as 3C in case Kerfy is gone

Description
Leafs keep Dermott and play Sandin in AHL to see how Lehtonen transitions in NHL. If well, we might see Dermott trade, if not why not use Dermott in his spot and Sandin comes back up. Depth is good thing, not bad.

Tavares has always been a good killer. He was one of the best in the league when he killed with the isles

And hasnt been used as one in Toronto. Probably because they dont want him playing so much at 5on5, PP and PK. Marner does do it but hes also a lot younger.

Acciari is 4th liner.

What was his shooting percentage and stats compared to previous seasons and his PDO?

Yup he was shooting high at almost 19%, but his shooting was almost up .5 shots a game. Also very sound defensively, and with a playmaker like Kappy on his wing he could score 20 easily. Also if we had Robby on that line we could have another sniper for Acciari to feed the puck to.

Zacha is amazing defensively and on PK!

I love his pk ability and he is good defensively but his offensive upside needs quite a bit of work. Better linemates would for sure help him but he is talented. Some work in the leafs organization and he'd be very good

Just curious what brought you guys to that conclusion. Everything I've seen on Zacha doesn't support that he is good defensively, so I was wondering if you guys were looking at certain stats that I'm unaware of/do not have access to.

NJ fans want a lot for him though.

I'd prefer to trade Johnsson+ for Acciari. He's on the block with Barkov/Haula/Wallmark in front of him.

No he's not. 20+ goal players are 3rd liners. I'd have him over Kerfoot and Johnsson based on contracts and their production over this year.

And with Florida probably losing one if not both of Dadanov and Hoffman, Acciari will move up to a top-6 RW slot.

We'd send Johnsson back to play behind Huberdeau.

I think he might. Something around what Marcus Pettersson signed last summer.

I guess but Dermott has over 50 more games of experience than Pettersson did at the time he signed

Tavares should in the playoffs. They've also got kerfoot who has the same skillset as kapanen and I think I read somewhere that he has before. Engvall, marner, kapanen, hyman, Johnsson, mikheyev, and even gauthier can but hes not very good at all. With Tavares and kerfoot potentially being able to next season getting a guy who only kills isnt that necessary but it would be nice.

Matthews isnt even that bad at it. Hes big enough and his stick work is so good plus hes an offensive threat at all times so they really dont need anyone that badly

Im just saying that the guys they have they dont use for whatever reason and it shows. I cant tell you why but if that continues it should be a PKer they are interested in.

His RAPM isnt fantastic but his isolated impact is alright and probably would be better if he was on a better team. The other stuff I know about him that isnt public information but he is very good at preventing pre shot movement so there is little cross seam passes- those drastically increase your shooting percentage. Hes alright at defending in transition and his work on the boards is also pretty good.

Imo hes probably not the best 3c option just yet but hes got the skill and with the leafs he could work with their development staff to improve significantly

This year 18.5%. Whole career 12.1%.

Granted it's an outlier, but who's to say he can't keep that up.

Its an outlier. He is 25-35 pt bottom-6 forward who does not have the quality of Kerfoot or Johnsson no matter their respective contracts.

Kerfoot and Johnsson both dropped in level compared to last. Acciari raised up.

I wouldn't change my stance regarding this for now. I'd rather have Acciari than those two.

Speaking from experience, trashsard was horrible in PIT because he didn’t embrace the 3C role. He wasn’t happy to play 3rd line and 2nd PP. highly doubt he’s signing todo that.

Good point. What was Johnsson's the year he got 20 goals? I will give you a hint, it was unrealistically high and not sustainable. Yet a lot of you leaf fans hang your hat on that year, calling him a 20 goal scorer, when the reality is he regressed this year to an expected 13-14 goal season if he stayed healthy. Good luck getting a 2nd round pick from anyone in this draft for a 5 10 forward with a 3.4 cap hit, and is coming off a serious leg injury.
