The pick Detroit is giving up is the 32nd pick of this years draft. Detroit isn't going to use it to acquire another defensive defenseman. I'd much rather have the first pick of 2nd round (32nd OA) than Dermott. Take a look at a mock draft or prospect rankings (which ever site or analyst you like or trust) and look at the players picked to go or rated #25 - #35.

There is pretty much no way to make Weber for Matthews at all doable.

Wings may trade for Dermont, but highly doubt it is the 32nd pick, maybe the Washington 2nd, but even then Yzerman wants to build thru the draft and trade when this team is closer.to contention.

I wanted to clarify I do think Dermott is a good defensemen and you probably could get a 2nd for him but if you do it will be from a playoff team and not a rebuilding team.
