Columbus declines.

Jost is the only interesting player in the trade to Columbus, and that’s only if he’s a center, I’m not sold that he is.

Zadorov- we have tons of LHD and Zadorov would maybe be 3rd pair

Kamenev is meh, 3rd line center prospect maybe...

Jenner was our 2nd line center last year and Savard is our best defensive defenseman. The proposed trade doesn’t really do much for Columbus right now.

Maybe if we’re out at the deadline, but not if we’re competitive.

I’ll take Jost’s potential over Jenner and Zadorov and the 2nd over Savard.

that really under rates CBJ players. Savard would return at least a 1st at TDL

In a nutshell I agree, but this team needs to start making moves to win now.

Waiting on Jost may pay off I agree, but this team needs players who can help us win a cup more than it needs potential - particularly as we also have Newhook and Bowers on the way as (potential) top 9 C's.

Zadorov is likely getting traded regardless, and rather than trading him for some picks a move for Savard would help put us over the top right now.

Your team is so strong, and you've drafted so well, that if you could land these two players, you could afford to make your first-round pick this year part of the package. I also see from this construction that even with the two additions, you're set up for the 2021 off-season: essentially, Landeskog will get Calvert's money, Makar will get Cole's money, and Savard will get Bellemare's money, and you shouldn't have any problem with the cap. And losing one of your depth forwards in the expansion draft will only help that aspect of the picture.

I’m not under rating them at all, Colorado is looking to move a dman to clear a spot for Byram and Jenner is a guy producing under 30pts playing over 18 minutes a game. That’s any easy pass for COL.

Jenner imo isn’t an upgrade on Compher or Jost especially considering the reduced iced time he would see. The Avs top 4 on d is rolling with Graves & Makar, and G & EJ. They are already top 4 in GA the amount of expected improvement isn’t worth the cost. Realistically, and I know you know this, the Avs will probably look to add a top 6 winger and move a dman to clear a spot for Byram. With Kaut, Bowers and LOC all ready they don’t need to add anything to the bottom 6.

And neither Jenner or Savard in the roles they would play with Avs are enough of a needle mover to do it.

I agree on Jenner. He's not a big upgrade, just perhaps more of a natural fit at 3C.

I do think a RHD like Savard would really solidify this teams D though, as it would bump Johnson down to the 3rd pairing where he can be paired with Byram to mentor him, and so his ice time can be managed a bit more to slow the decline.

The pieces that are of most interest are Anderson and Savard, and maybe a trade around Jost + 1st + 3rd would make sense, to plug the top 6 forward role and 2nd pairing RHD.

Acquiring Savard would be dependent on Timmins not being ready though. It's hard to know whether or not he'll be deemed ready for the team by the start of next season, particularly as he'd have missed 18 months, plus 9+ months due to the lockdown, and just played ~35 games in between. 35 games in ~3 years is not a lot of hockey to judge him on and maybe he'd be best served with a lot of ice time in the AHL.
