Description
I don’t think there’s any way eichel is traded just yet. So the other option is get closer to playoffs. Depending on the progress of guys like cozens this team could be a playoff team. Though realistically I see this team as a bubble team that misses at the end of it all. However this sets them up for the future as well as the present. They have core pieces, they need the supporting cast...and a top pairing rd.

I understand that the sabres might have to add on both trades.

Also the pilut trade is only if he goes to Europe

i would put cozens at center instead of jojo because jojo looks absolutely lost when he's playing center. cozens also shouldn't be on a line with a guy like simmer because they have polar opposite playing styles and that would hurt cozens transition into the nhl.

Fair enough...ho sang or balcers replace simmonds on that line and hair conzens to c (though I don’t think he is ready for center mins)

Pretty sure Ottawa says no. Balcers is a good prospect and Ottawa is a rebuilding team, and Tierney>Montour alone.

I have seen variations of either Miller or Montour for Tierney on other posts by Ottawa fans, so I think that may be a viable move.
I am not a fan of the NYI trade.
Both Pilut and Ho-Sang, Joshua have demonstrated NHL skills I think I would rather stay with the devils I know. Pilut and Thompson.
    EDIT:
I should have said this first.
Good job, better than some I have seen here by Sabre fans.

Fair enough, I just think aho would be a good addition and his-sang has more potential than thompson.

I think it’s easier to make teams you don’t have previous biases (apparently that is a word lol) for. Almost everytime I make a team for WPG and make new trades there’s also ways some bias that comes up.

    Thanks for the comment.
I agree, sometimes a change of scenery is all that is needed.
    That is why I compared:
Ho-Sang, Joshua [RFA Rights] to Pilut, Lawrence [RFA Rights] as they both have NHL experience and have produced about the same level
Aho, Sebastian [RFA Rights] potential to Thompson, Tage [RFA Rights]
Unlike many on this site, I am really high on Thompson for many reasons.
    He has a great attitude.
He has a great AHL resume.
He impressed me in the Sabres Prospect Challenge last year.
He is really Huge (225 lb 6'6")
He is only 22 years old

IMO many Sabre fans are down on him as he was one of the pieces coming back from the O'Reilly trade.
He played poorly and appeared to be awkward and out of position.

Pilut appears to be ready to contribute in the NHL.
He has an excellent AHL resume.

I do not know if Ho-Sang has over come some of his demons.

These are the reasons, I would keep the devils I know.

Pilut is reportedly going back to Europe and if they don’t trade him I doubt he’s coming back as an RFA (to buffalo that is)

    IDK the details.
    He has not signed yet.
He is Buffalo property forever as I understand the RFA rules.
Maybe he wants to get into condition.
I have not heard him say he is unhappy other than By Chad DeDominicis who no one in Buffalo holds in high esteem. https://www.diebytheblade.com/2020/5/27/21272177/buffalo-sabres-lawrence-pilut-is-reportedly-going-back-to-europe-ahl-nhl-khl
This appears to be the skinny https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/lawrence-pilut-player-news
I guess, I am the eternal optimist, I hope he comes back. If not then your trade makes a lot of sense.

They only hold his rights until he turns 27. Then he is a UFA.

I guess I shoudl have said that in the description but that trade is only if he goes to Europe
