Like the virtanen and Henrique adds but we need a sweetener in both I think and I don’t see the fit for Anaheim to take Risto when they’re gonna need to blow it up.

they are trading a 30 year old center under contract for 4 more years at 5.85 million for a 25 year old RHD. hes younger than manson who they are touting as scott stevens 2.0 and part of the long haul.

I guess but I think they’d want prospects and picks. I guess see Risto as a better fit for a team trying to add.

You are right but LittleJerry is just obsessed with moving Risto and believing he has value. The trade makes no sense from Anaheims point of view. They have a few seasons to add to their right side, no reason at all to rush on a bad defenseman like Risto and give up a valuable asset for him in the process.

I do think he has value among NHL circles. The idea that he has no value is of course stupid.

I also think Anaheim would be smart to move bigger salaries like Henrique, who have value, but diminishing value due to his salary and age. You open up a top 9 forward spot and you save money for when you have to pay your young guys, which is coming quicker than you think.

If he had this kind of value he'd have been moved when Buffalo was rumored to be trying to trade him 2 seasons ago and last season. He'd have been traded when he requested he be traded last summer. Noone is looking to give up a 2C for Risto and we know that cause it hasn't been done despite lots of opportunity.

You keep acting like Adam Henrique is Evgeni Malkin.

Hes a nice player who is aging and has a larger contract. Its a reasonable trade.

Well the Sabres have had 2 seasons now, trying to trade Risto the entire time, to show us a deal like would be reasonable and they havnt. Risto isnt worth a 2c.

We agree to disagree, which is fine.

I think a 30 year old center who is typically a mid 40s point guy with a 5.85 cap hit through at 34 is a reasonable return. A lot of others agree.

You think Henrique is worth more.

Oh well.

No, the NHL has shown us that Risto is worth less not that Henrique is worth more.

I guess we will have to wait and see what/if they move ristolainen for this offseason.

I respectfully disagree. I like all of these trades with the exception of the Henrique trade (which I will discuss directly with LittleJerry), and my reason for that objection isn't value.

Your Henrique trade is right on value. Given our cheesiness on the right side, Ristolainen is a gamble worth taking and it should be noted that he would be playing with Cam Fowler, who is quite a bit better at covering up defensive deficiencies than anyone on your left side. (That is, after all, why you're acquiring Jonas Brodin.)

My discomfort with the exchange is that I think Henrique is too valuable as a transition to the young centers coming up (Zegras, Steel and maybe Groulx or a guy we might select if we win one of the lotteries). With Getzlaf aging out (I don't see him staying more than one year after his current ticket expires), some veteran leadership will be necessary. But it's not as if Anaheim might make this trade and I would lead a mob with torches and pitchforks, as I would if someone traded the 7th overall pick in this year's draft and Dylan Cozens for Max Domi.

Thats a fair point. I would suggest there are plenty of veteran centers you could sign for less money or for less term to bridge the gap if you think you need to.
