2020 NHL Draft- The Sabres have a lot of young D both in their prospect pool and on their roster, I expect them to add some more high end forward talent at the draft.

Considering how bad buffalo has been that’s a pretty thin prospect pool. Besides Cozens they don’t have a single blue chip prospect

I think Weissbach has a chance to make it. He's really creative and has all the tools a forward needs to succeed, he just needs to put it all together

I dont disagree, but this list only tells part of the story. All of our firsts before cozens were rushed to the point that they would not qualify for this list. It does suck that both samuelsson and johnson are considered reaches from where they were drafted, but thats what you would be left with for a list like this. You have a 5'6" european forward, two goalies, pekar who is probably a project, and a bunch of d- 2 of whom are still in college. Unfortunately thats what makes the list.

Johansson's turning 25 this year. He's hardly a prospect anymore.

Agreed and even if I had Johannson on this list he would be much lower. Similarly I would have Ruotsalainen lower. He may not have had the best year this year but I think Laaksonen should have made the list also

It's what happens also when dahlin and mittelstadt (,and jokiharju) have already played 100 nhl games. Alot of 2017 and 2018 picks havent.

    But you are right

    I would say its:

    Cozens
    Samuelsson
    Ruotsalainen
    Johnson
    Bryson
    UPL
    Portillo
    Pekar
    Davidsson
    Laakssonen

I am making a different list which includes players 23 or younger who are not in the NHL:
    1. Dylan Cozens Seems to be a solid top 6 if not first line player
    2. Casey Mittelstadt let's not give up on him, he is only 21 and has 39 pts in 114 NHL games. That does not sound like a bust to me, but he is still in the AHL.
    3. Tage Thompson Similar to Casey. Only 22, has a great AHL resume, bulked up to 225 and only 4 NHL players are taller than he. Bigger players take longer to develop.
    4. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen He may be actually be 1.a.
    5. Ryan Johnson He appears to be a great skater. It appears the NHL has moved away from big bruising defensemen with all 5 skaters joining the offense now.
    6. Arttu Ruostalainen I ranked him down here as he is a bit small, but he can really put up the points.
    7. Mattias Samuelsson Sam Ryan, another puck moving defenseman.
    8. Jacob Bryson pure guesses from here down. The Hockey writers said the Buffalo prospects may be all Mike Weber, that sort of made me feel really sad.
    9. Marcus Davidsson
    10. Linus Weissbach
    11. Matej Pekar
    12. Jonas Johansson

I mean Dahlin is elite no question about that, and I think Joki will develop into a top pairing D. I really like him. So you’re right, sabres have a good group of “young” NHL players. Still not sold on Middlestat though. For sabres sake I hope he pans out but that ship may have sailed

right, but we are talking prospects. if he had stayed at minnesota a 2nd year and split time between buffalo and rochester last year, he'd be on this list for sure, maybe as high as #2
