Is this Eichel when hes playing for a ****ty team like the Sabres or is this Eichel after hes demanded a trade to a good team?

It's close, Matthew's was on pace to have the better of the seasons overall but do you take into account the difference between team qualities??

It's a coin flip for me. If they were swapped teams I think their stats would swap and be about the same. I gladly take either of them in MN.

Reinhart, Olofsson, Skinner, Johansson, Vesey (top forwards scorer of Sabres after Eichel) <<< Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Hyman, Kapanen (top forwards scorer after Matthews)

Dahlin < Rielly (although Rasmus Dahlin has the potential to be better than Morgan Rielly or even as good as Victor Hedman)

Ullmark+Hutton << Andersen

Matthews has spent more time with kapanen then he has with marner but I get your point. People just need to stop acting like Eichel plays with nobody.

Its pretty clear that Matthews has the edge. If you keep in mind that Matthews is a year younger, he's outproduced Eichel in every single comparable aged year. With that said, Eichel is also 100% an elite franchise centre. They are very close and both are likely going to be top 5 centres within a couple of years.

Matthews scored more points with less playing time under Babs. I imagine Eichel could have scored less in TO since Babs likely would have also limited his opportunities.
