This may be a team that could win, but I still don't see a team here that would beat the top teams in the East. Look at Tampa and Toronto for example, those teams can roll 3 scoring lines and have all stars all over the lineup. You have good players sure but Hall and Pietrangelo are getting older and you still have not a lot after your top line and top defence pair. This is exactly what has put them in this mess. Add a some FA's and hope our young guys get 80% over the summer. I think Buffalo needs to rethink how this organization is using its resources. You need to draft better, you need to develop better and then you need to get rid of anyone over the age of 25 for guys that could fit the culture and style you want to play. Then take a year or two to keep building up the talent and skill you have and hope it leads to some good depth that can be built around. Jumping the gun has only harmed you.
I completely agree with your concept of building a team.
Start by building a competent team in Rochester.
Draft well.
Give the prospects time to develop.
Change the culture in the big club and bring in the prospects.
I wanted to build a team that could break the non play off streak.
At the same time, I give cozens time to develop,
Further more, I have 4 picks among the top 40 and an awesome top line.
So this approach fills all of my steps to winning.
Finally, you are correct, the Leafs can roll 3 lines, but Boston has only one.
Regardless, thanks for taking the time to explain your approach.
