Leddy will cost a 2nd round pick. If you want to throw in Kulak I think the Isles would take him too.

Islanders would be overjoyed to get Mete or Kulak plus the 61st overall.

Leddy has shown declining numbers almost across the board for 4 straight seasons. Its rather strange to see that from a guy in his mid 20's but 4 years of becoming less and less effective isn't something that would garner any kind of a return, especially when the player is entering his 30's and has 2 more years of 5.5 million dollars a year in cap hit. I would think moving Leddy would require a sweetener. Seems like a rather risky proposition to expect a guy trending down to somehow become good again as he leaves his prime.

He's been fine. He had a great first year with the Islanders, then other defensemen have come in and fit better. Trust me, he's still a good defenseman.

Why on earth would I trust this? The numbers tell a completely different story. His possession numbers have dropped every year for the past 5 years, as has his expected goals percentage. Having a bad year can be explained away but 5 straight years of diminishing effectiveness isn't something that one can say "Trust me, he's still good". That sounds like Ducks fans who wanted to trade Perry for value before he was bought out, "trust us, he's still really good but the system isn't working for him anymore" No its because he's just not that good. Leddy's contract and 5 straight years of diminishing effectiveness make him difficult to move, I certainly wouldn't give assets to get him.

Nah, the Islanders don't have any leverage and most teams are tight cap-wise so a 4th get Leddy.

Jesus, dude. I'm not saying he's worth your next six 1st round picks and your firstborn. I'm saying he's still a good player and worth a 2nd round pick. He's just not what he was a few years ago. He's not a liability.

A 4th for a top-4 defenseman on a good contract? That seems like a steal for another team.

But all the numbers suggest he may not even be an NHL player
