Buffalos 2nd and Tampas 1st have basically the same value Tampas will be pick 25-31 qnd buffaloes 2nd will be pick 32-40. They basically cancel each other out. Burns has just about zero trade value with his age and contract. Risto is still a young point producing RHD even if his overall play leaves a lot to be desired. Olofsson is a bright spot for buffalo, he is great on the PP. This is basically a anchor contract in burns for two valuable young assets.

TBH, I'm still not in love with the trade. Burns' production is double Risto's, and Risto is a bit overpaid for his inconsistencies.

Olofsson is very interesting though.

Besides, If I had a guess as to who would be on Burns' 3-Team trade list my guess would be DAL, STL, NSH.

I rather let BUF pick (Rossi?), wait a few years for them to ruin the relationship, then trade for the player. That way we keep all our principle players. Why sell ourselves out??

Easy Sabres pass. Don't need or want an aging Burns. Doesn't fit their timeline or their cap structure with Dahlin & Jokiharju coming up. Not moving Oloffson for old and slow and a slight draft pick upgrade. A mid to high 1st plus would be needed to get him.

I really want to blow it up tank hard 3-4 years ruin Karlsson a best chance at a cup then rebuild so we can win a cup right after he’s gone

You’d rather limp along in mediocrity for another 4-6 years? Before we shave nothing worth anything and rebuild for 6-7 years or jump start the rebuild and have a cup contender in 4-5 years?

Truthfully, I don't think things are as bleak as you think they are. The only difference between last season and this past season is three RW forwards and a better goalie (albeit, not by much). In addition to that, the greatest offender was DoBoer's refusal to change his strategy for a team missing Pavs, which led to a frustrated group of players without proper guidance.

Under Boughner's coaching they'll start with a brand new system which favors EK65's QB, Cooch's leadership, and the team's overall desire to be winners again. They'll emphasize physical training during the off-season; EK65 will finally heal completely (not rush his therapies following a deep Playoff run), Jones can finally take time to rest and train to get back to form, and the team can drill drill drill on the new system. They'll add a forward or two, slot in another backup goalie, and maybe find another 3rd pair Dman. Possibly move out Burns or Vlasic, but probably not, and draft more prospects.
Either way, they will be better next season. I say this not from a position of pure faith, but from a position of reasonable understanding. The pieces are out there and we have the money and will to bring them on. We will be ok.
