The Eichel deal is actually not awful. Needs one more sweetener. Retain salary on Forsberg maybe.

The Brodin deal is a huge overpay by Buffalo though.

How do you need salary retention when you're already saving $1.4M, picking up a prospect and 2 firsts? I know it's Eichel, but do you really need a cherry on top with that type of package?

To actually trade Eichel you need like 3 cherries on top.
I know we're all having fun with Eichel trades, but its not happening unless someone goes bonkers to get him

Or he asks out and then no one will offer the moon. He’ll probably get traded for something like Domi + Kotkaniemi and a 1st round pick

Good overall effort. Still not doing it if I'm Buffalo unless we're getting another piece or two, especially with Risto going the other way (as you could always trade him in a separate deal).

Why does everyone think that you have to be traded because you ask out? Buffalo is in a position to just make him suffer for 5 more years. Gonna suck anyway so might as well send a message.

Buffalo would just tell Eichel to suck it up because that just isn't enough to trade a franchise centre.

I think if he asked out, it'll end up being him for another franchise centre of similar age. There are not a lot of teams that would have the necessary pieces to offer up. Detroit maybe? If they get Laff and it would still cost them Larkin as well I'd say. But that would be if Buffalo decides to use it as a complete restart, and then moves out Skinner, Rienhart and pretty much everyone else over the age of 25.

Otherwise they would probably look at teams like Vancouver, TO, Florida, Tampa, Edmonton, maybe a few others. I think unless you were planning on going full rebuild you'd move him for another high end young centre otherwise you are losing the trade in a big way.

I see this reasoning all the time. What you are saying is that 30 gms, the same guys that bring you the ufa stroll down jackass lane every july, these guys are going to sand bag each other to try to not overpay for a 23 year old franchise center.

Well that certainly would be the right thing to do. Unfortunately, every time I think this franchise has hit rock bottom, they find another way down. If you wanna get out of the hole, you have to put down the shovel.
