I wouldn't. Chabot is going to be a top Norris calibre Dman for the next decade, and he's Locked up on a great contract. Sens have two top 5 picks where they can get elite forwards to go with to the 1LW they already have.

I thought the rumor of 3 oa and seabrook to Vancouver for there later pick was interesting and if I’m Vancouver I probably pull the trigger, but this scenario I can’t wrap my head around thought, gap between 1oa and 6oa would basically have to be light and day and I still can’t trade a chabot that is signed up longterm in a dumpster of ottawa. Looking at past 1oa to 6oa like a Mathews to tkachuk, not saying this is that year again, but tough to add in that quality of a defenseman to get the upgrade

Realistically that’s what it would cost for Ottawa to slide up from 6th to first overall. It’s definitely not that bad of an offer. Laf is leaps and bounds better than who’d they get at 6OA. It may be an overpay but that’s what it would take

In 2011, Ottawa had 6th overall and enquired about moving up to 1st. Asking price for the upgrade was Erik Karlsson. Yeah the ask isn’t far fetched but Ottawa isn’t doing it

Yeah you’re right Ottawa probably wouldn’t do it, but that’s what the cost would be. And there’s a lot more hype surrounding Laf than there was surrounding RNH in 2011
