Description
Go with a 22 man roster at home to make up the cap savings. Shuffle Samberg and/or Heinola up and down as they don't need waivers.

If Little has to retire or go on LTIR then Perreault slots in and we keep Paquette.

Niku can be signed for a league minimum contract and can play both sides. Not really proven in the NHL yet but provides insurance in case Foote isn't ready for 3RD and a replacement for Coburn at 3LD maybe this year.

Nathan Smith is from Tampa Bay and is an interesting prospect.

Vesalainen is expansion exempt.

Sorry to rain on your parade but not happening. Tampa's too smart to not maximize Cirelli's return. Here's how Cirelli would find Winnipeg:

Cirelli offer sheet would net 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Tampa. Tampa could easily fix lower end of lineup by signing UFA's to 1-2 year deals. That would better maximize their return for Cirelli. I would add to that offer if you are to convince them to trade before FA and Offer sheet period.

Tampa accept, we get two guys who might be better than cirelli plus a 1st, i would rather have a better defensemen prospect than Sami Niku but that alright

Key word "might be." You have no clue if they're going to pan out. Cirelli is already proven to be a 50 point guy (projecting had the season not stopped) and he's not even top line due to obvious reasons above him. He's incredible defensively and you want to trade him for a 20 year old AHL player who is a .5 pts/game player, and a 21 year old who plays in one of the worst conferences in college and is scoring at about the same pt/game pace as Cirelli is in the NHL? Can I remind you that Cirelli is 22 years old?

But if you accept, go right ahead I guess.

I guess I don't understand your point of view because, imo, this offer is more than the 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks they would get through an offer sheet and the prospects I'm offering are closer to being able to contribute to their team, in their window, than a draft pick would be.

1st vs 1st
2nd vs Vesalainen (who was a 1st round pick and is expansion exempt)
3rd vs Smith (who was a 3rd round pick and is born in Tampa Bay, so having a hometown kid would be appealing)
Niku (who is NHL ready and can be a contributor immediately on a minimum deal)

How much more do you think Cirelli returns via trade? I've offered essentially 2 - 1sts, a 3rd and a roster Dman. All pieces fit their area of need.

I'm curious what a better offer that is out there for Cirelli considering that virtually no salary can come back in trade unless it's an ELC or league minimum caphit.

Sure I totally understand the value in this trade. I have no issues with the value. I'll try my best to explain why I don't think Tampa would go for it:

Tampa is getting compensation no matter what for Cirelli. Whether by trade or offer sheet. So if someone is going to trade for Cirelli, my thought is that they would have to significantly overpay value-wise to cut a deal with Tampa. So even though I agree with your value assessment of Cirelli, Tampa could just wait it out and see if someone is so desperate that they make a better offer.

As far as the pieces coming back are concerned: I'm not sold on Vesalainen yet. Sure he's got talent but he's not exactly blowing off the roof at the AHL level. Yes, he is only 20, but you're trading a possible future Selke winner for a raw but promising prospect. Smith is the real wildcard here. He could be good, he could be just mediocre. People will look at his 27 PTS in 35 and be impressed. Unfortunately, I'm skeptical. The WCHA is one of the lower leagues in the NCAA. For a future star I would expect more, especially at 21 years old. The Tampa part is appealing but I still think the Bolts decline.

I hope this helps? Once again, I'm not trying to say you're wrong. Just offering my 3rd party opinion!
