Description
No CBO's, flat cap. I am actually pretty against trading Burns as I really worry what it could do to the locker room but nevertheless playing around.

Don't think you'll find anyone willing to give up a 1st for Burns's contract, unless you retain $3M+ in salary. His contract might be decent value for a season or two, but those final 3 years are going to be brutal.

No way DAL gives up that. As @tkecanuck341 pointed out, unless you're willing to retain a major chunk of his contract, Burns isn't tradable.

The next 2 years at 7 mil (in this case) won't be that bad, but the last 3 years of his contract will hurt any team that has him, that's why I think the SJS will have to retain at the very least 2 mil per to trade him. Maybe even 2,5 mil. Or take on a major cap dump who has 2-3 years left on his deal

Sharks will not retain half of burns contract or any of the crap people are saying. We can take back a small dump. But Burns is one of the best D in the league and still supremely athletic. He will easily still be in the league in 5 years. Will he be 83 pointer anymore? No. But he will still able to play

Killorn isn't worth that 1st I'm sorry

I agree with previous posts about Dallas not taking Burns' contract. For that trade to happen, it would have to be Burns (2.1 mill ret.) and a 2nd for Johns, Dellandrea and a 3rd. I think that would be more reasonable.

Other than those things, good post.

I'm not saying that Burns is not tradeable, just that you will not be getting a 1st round pick plus a quality prospect for him with his current contract.

I think we could if we take back like a 4mil dump or something similar

Sure, but it would need to be a $4 million dump for 5 seasons. Dallas doesn't really have any of those.

Yeah no, thats the whole contract. The point of the trade is that we get cap relief and futures, and the acquiring team gets one of the best offensive D men in the league for now, but will have to deal with him not being worth his contract in a few years.

I understand your point. My point is that you will not get a 1st round pick AND a quality prospect AND several seasons' worth of a full $8M in cap relief for Brent Burns.
