Copp>Kerfoot. Picks going the wrong way and it wouldn't matter because they still decline. Devils won't retain that much. Johnsson isn't worth a 2nd and a 3rd.

No to all trades and getting a 3rd overall pick is extremely unlikely.

If Toronto loses in the qualifier round this season, they should blow it up and start over.

Umm excuse me wtaf?

Their entire core except for Tavares is 25 and under, and Tavares is Tavares. They have one of the best offenses in the NHL, and have been a playoff team for 3yrs now. Tell me this in 8 yrs.

And if they still can't win a "play-in" series against a team that is 3rd to last in the league in scoring, then they have major problems that won't be fixed by swapping out a player or two.

The best team in the NHL has only about a 60-70% chance of beating the worse team. Columbus is 9 seed while TOR is 8 seed. Most people would say TOR has less then a 70% chance of winning. The way you win cups is by making the playoffs over and over again, and that's what Toronto is doing. If I said to you, if you lose your play-in against Minny you should just blow it all up because you lost 3 games you would be outraged! You'd say Hughes and Pete are crazy young and I'd counter with literally our entire team is young. You get what I'm saying right?

I'm a Kings fan, but sure. As you probably know, a Canuck is someone from Canada and not necessarily indicative of which hockey franchise one follows.

If this was the first, or even second time they blew it in the postseason, then I'd say that the loss was a fluke and they should give it another run. But this would be the third straight first-round exit (preliminary round in this case) for the Leafs, all with the majority of the new core in place (Tavares wasn't around for the first one). You could argue that they lost the last two series to quality opponents in Washington and Boston, but a loss to the Blue Jackets this season would be inexcusable.

As you mentioned, playoff series are sometimes no better than a coin-flip. Lose 3 coin flips in a row, and you might need to consider getting yourself a new coin.

Oh sorry for the confusion tears of joy As a fellow Canadian of course I know but it flew over my head a little...

About the coin analogy: Well not necessarily. So far they have flipped the coin 20 times with their new core, and have gotten heads 8(?) times. That's pretty good. They were also playing against fairly dominant teams. They have kept every playoff round close, and a combination of injuries and luck has seen them fail to win that game 7. The team is young and only getting better, and if they make the playoffs over and over again eventually they'll land a few extra heads.

I guess. Like I said, losses to Washington and Boston were explainable, if not excusable. A loss to Columbus would be a catastrophe and should, at minimum, cost the coach his job, if not require some major roster moves.

Sheldon Keefe was just promoted and has been VERY good so far.

I wouldn't mind some roster changes but right now we have a team that makes the playoffs consistently, and I don't want to mess with that.

if anybody in a front office says that any team should blow it up for how they do in this magic-beans-fantasy-land-five-game-series playoff format after a four to five month layoff they should be fired immediately
