CBJ fans -- what would Korpisalo cost

Description
If there's no CBO and a flat cap, the Canucks will have very little cap room after their RFA's are signed. They could just sign Markstrom and try to hobble through the year with bargain-basement Dmen on their 3rd pairing, but I think that would be a disaster when the inevitable injuries start piling up.

The alternative is to sign another reasonably priced top 4 Dman (I always come back to DeMelo in my posts), and sign or trade for another lower-priced goalie that can split starts with Demko. I know the Jackets don't really have a reason to deal Korpisalo after just extending him for 2 years, but what would be enticing enough for them to do it? A pick, player, prospect, or combo? Merzlikins is obviously their guy and has a decent cap hit for two years, so it seems feasible they could land an established backup on a two-year deal if they dealt Korpi.

The Canucks could easily sign one of the veteran UFA backups available too, but I feel like Korpisalo has a better chance of offering a higher amount of quality starts and is still young enough that he could be the guy they stick with longer term if he plays really well this year. If Demko outplays him then it's his job to lose and they'd likely expose Korpisalo to Seattle.

Merzlikins is exempt from the expansion draft, so I would imagine CBJ keeps Korpisalo and runs with the same solid tandem

I think you are correct. By signing both of them to 2 year deals, the goal will be to give them both 2 years to prove who is going to be the #1 going forward long-term.
I was very surprised that Elvis got the higher valued deal over Korpi...since Korpi has been here much longer and was playing very well (not to mention Elvis seems to let his emotions get the better of him on a few occasions now).
If a team was desperate enough for a goaltender, i think the jackets would want a 1st in return. otherwise, there is no reason to part with him.
Also, since he was playing very well and he was named as an all star prior to his injury (i realize that under the new format, there are now 8 all star goaltenders instead of 6).

A 3nd isn’t near enough. Schneider and Jones both got 1st round picks after whining they were a starting goalie for LA and Vancouver. So that would be the absolute minimum from Columbus.

I would consider and JT Miller for Wennberg and Korpisalo type trade as Miller could be the 2nd line center in Columbus and Wennberg would get a chance away from torts and playing with Pettersson night help him pick up the scoring.

Miller for Korpi and Wennberg.... eww. I get it if they don’t want to deal him, that’s fine. But Miller was the best skater on the Canucks last year and has 3 years left on his very fair contract. Ewww.

You get my point. That’s what Columbus would want... otherwise not interested.

Still going to have to expose one signed goalie though, per expansion rules. Didn't someone sign like a 48 year old to an NHL contract just to satisfy that last time around?

Yeah most teams give their AHL backup an extension so he fits the bill
