Do we really want to "rebuild" though? Because if Fiala keeps improving and Kaprizov shows he's the real deal...then we're only a few pieces away (albeit big pieces) from contending....just my opinion

If I was the wild, I would try (this draft) to target a center and if you can’t get one with your pick then I would trade to get one. Because it definitely looks like that’s what you guys are lacking.

Staal is more of a high end 3C now than a top-6 center, or at least he should be a 3C on any team with any center depth. I do think he'd be a big upgrade over Kerfoot as Tor's 3C and playing less minutes would probably be good for him.

TBH from the Leafs this almost robbery, I'm sorry but Eric Staal at 3C for the season is so much better than Kerfoot , I'd almost feel guilty for pulling this trade off

Damn if that was the offer Dubas accepts. Stall becomes 3c, Dumba goes with Muzzin or Rielly. All works out. Fits the needs of both teams as toronto gets some depth and Minnesota gets pieces to speed up the rebuild. Maybe to make it more fair send Holl and remove Bracco and Minnesota adds a 3rd.

So Toronto receives (Dumba and Stall with retention and a 3rd) while Minnesota receives (Holl + Kapenan + SDA + a 2021 1st)

Staal still put up 0.71 ppg this year which is better than Dubois, Monahan, Getlaf, and Duchene and better than a lot of 2C's. He's an above average 2C still, just doesn't have age working in his favor.

Problem is he is expensive and won't be around for long. We have good 3C's we can go and get and would rather keep our pick.

He's slowed down quite a bit this year, and his d-zone play isn't good anymore. He can still put up points, but he'd be better off in an offensive 3C role, not the 2-way top-6 center role.

Expensive as in it uses our 1st for next year. We could get a good defensemen for that. Just flip Staal somewhere else for a 1st+. I'm sure Winnipeg would love his low cap hit.

I don't see Staal being flipped anywhere. This whole AGM is awful for MN.

This is very poor for the Wild. Dumba is the most valuable element of this exchange, and you're retaining 50% of his big cap hit. To be fair, you'd have to substitute Liljegren for Bracco and take out Staal.
