Dzingel had 8 goals and McGinn doesn't have a lot of value? if you see it then sure but still feel LA wouldn't finalize it

No it wouldnt. Gives the Leafs their best RHD and cap room to get everything else done. Dubas falls all over himself to get this done.

It gets them a right handed defenceman, not their best RD option. Just because a player shoots right does not mean he's better than any one else on the team at RD. Roy has accomplished nothing to prove he's anything other than a potential decent player.

It you think this trade is unfair, you must be beside yourself with the numerous trade suggestions involving some combination of Johnsson, Kerfoot, Dermott, Bracco for a top line RD.

Swap Kapanen with Johnsson, Bracco, and a low pick.

Roy has decent advanced stats (REL TM), but Holl and Dermott are both better. If Kapanen can get us Weegar+, Murphy+, or maybe even Severson I'm going to hold onto him.

That package would not entice the Kings to move Roy.

Holl and Dermott both have better basic and advanced stats (TM REL). You don't move a top-6 winger on a team-friendly bridge deal for a 3rd pairing defensemen. Imo Kapanen doesn't get moved.

Dermott and Holl are both bottom pairing defensmen who are playing above their ability on a team with a bad right side D Core. To suggest that Roy would not instantly be the best right handed defender on this Leafs team is laughable. No fancy stats in the world would suggest otherwise.

In addition... anyone who bases what a player actually contributes on the ice on advanced stats alone is shortsighted.

I am not suggesting that Roy would be the answer to every thing that ails the Leafs defensively but he is a better defender than both Dermott and Holl.

Kapanen is a good player and it would suck to lose him for sure. Trading an excess of offence isn't the worst idea in the world. Holding onto an excess of offence and expecting and hoping a substandard D Core to improve is.

No chance that Kapanen alone returns any one of those players plus other assets. I doubt Kapanen would return one of those players alone, never mind the +'s.

I agree, a Roy for Kapanen swap could probably be arranged. I would concede that Kapanen probably has a bit higher value than Roy, but the $2.5M in cap space the Kings are taking off the books makes up for the difference.

The Kings would want no part of a Johnsson/Dermott trade, especially if either Roy or Walker were going back.
