He had a slight down year and all of a sudden its the end of the world. Him and Marner will bounce back next year and be as good as they were last year, maybe even better playing for a coach that better fits the teams playing style

73 Goals and 75 Assist in 145 games and he left money on the table to sign here. is the worst thing to happen to the team?

I think the worst thing that happened was Dubas not holding out on the Nylander contract. It caused over payment on his, Mathews and Marner. all should have been lower and for max years.

I think the worst thing that happened was Dubas not holding out on the Nylander contract. It caused over payment on his, Mathews and Marner. all should have been lower and for max years.


Don't say anything bad about Dubas. He is a Hockey God.

It's not even that. Imo, if he wasn't staying with NY, Tampa would've been an even better fit for him because they had all their top 4 D locked in and had leverage with no income tax. Toronto didn't have that and had to trade away Kadri the following offseason as a result.

any team who signed him would have been probably been willing to give him more and would have been ecstatic to sign john tavares, you have a chance to sign a guy like tavares you do it. youre a salty sens fan whose head the leafs live in rent free, youll be less of a miserable person if you just worry about your own team

I’m not even close to miserable. I love the way the Sens are building their team. They’ll draft 2 elite forwards and a good 2 way Dman and their prospect pool will be so deep they can improve the team in any way they want by trade. And we won’t have any weaknesses on the roster

then when cheap melnyk wont wanna pay them they will want a trade out, every star player you get wants out, cant act like people want to play in ottawa, not fun playing games infront of 12 people except when they have road games at home vs the habs and leafs when its sold out with opposing fans, i think they have solid prospects as well im not gonna sit here and be ignorant but if they also pan out their going to want money too, youll come back with well they wont ask for money like matthews and marner. but they also arent players like matthews and marner, matthews isnt overpaid hes earned his contract, if you wanna take the rantanen comparable for the marner contract then marner is overpaid by a measly 1.6 mil, you also act like they have reached their ceiling at 23 which isnt the case, and nylander has outplayed his contract this yar and most likely will get better, tkachuk is a great player but he isnt marner, and theres noone close to matthews

They traded Kadri because he got suspended in game 2 of the playoffs in back to back years against a rival team. They had a surplus at centre and Kadri was the odd man out, so they traded him for Barrie to try and upgrade the defense. Kadri definitely should have been traded but they traded him for the wrong type of defenseman.

Sens are gonna be stacked in a few years they have 9 picks in the first 3 rounds this year and 4 in the first 2 rounds next year. They got chabot to commit long term, if they get tkachuk to commit long term other young players will follow in their steps. I think Dorion has actually done a good job recently so as long as Melnyk doesnt do anything really stupid (which is very possible) the sens are gonna be good very soon and for a long time.
