Thats the irony. That defense looks like sh*t but according to legitimate advanced stats (mostly CF%, xGa TM REL/60, and Sh%) this defense should shut down an elite offensive team. The reality is likely somewhere in between.

Instead of the 3rd, 4th and 6th, you're probably looking at a 2nd and 5th.

florida only does that trade if kerfoot is involved, and dermott accompanies him.

They can take Kerfoot or really any defensive prospect they want not named Liljegren, but Dermott has crazy good advanced stats and since for this ACGM that's all I'm looking at he's untouchable.

Why does that defence look like ****? Looks like best case scenario to me, considering they won't be acquiring a Seth Jones or Victor Hedman.

Seems like Weegar would be a great partner for Rielly (who finished 5th in Norris voting while paired with Ron Hainsey). I don't really think this team needs the second coming of Nik Lidstrom in order for their defence to be decent.

Yea Weegar has insane shot suppresion and is very VERY good on odd-man rushes. The idea is that Weegar is more stay-at-home allowing Rielly to go on the offensive, similar to what Hainsey did. To most other fanbases it looks bad considering they don't know how good Muzzin + Holl is and have never looked at advanced stats in their life.

I really do have high hopes that the Leafs can acquire Weegar. Has absurd advanced stats, limits shots/goals against, I think he would make an excellent partner for Rielly. Tallon also isn't exactly known for embracing analytics, so he could come for a decent price.
