If I had to guess the Leafs are on Gardiner's no-fly zone lol. Also why get rid of Hyman just to sign Hoffman when Hyman is certainly better with those 2?

See I would have agreed with that at the start of the season but after that miserable season he had think he may wave for a place where he’s played well before

Oh tears of joy

Why not move Kappy and Domi to Matthews's wings? Then Mikheyev and Marner with Tavares, no reason to sign Hoffman.

You could I’m just a fan of Hoffman think he would be similar having nylander on his wing and that worked well

Eh... It locks a lot of space in that will be needed to resign Sandin, Robertson, Rielly, etc. In the future we'll have Robertson to play the LW so we don't need him that bad. Also, he's a bit of a PP specialist. His 5v5 numbers kind of suck ngl

It's pretty well known that Gardiner passed on more $$/term from Habs in order to avoid playing in another hockey hotbed.

So I really don't think he'd be the perfect fit for MTL like you say.

Jake Gardiner didn't want to sign with MTL as a FA so I don't think this Habs trade even happens.

Jake Gardiner didn't want to sign with MTL as a FA so I don't think this Habs trade even happens.

This is why he would have to be traded to Toronto (or another place) first as he would have to waive his no trade which then the new team can decide if they want to honour the no trade or not if not then they can trade him (so they can trade him to Montreal)

You do realize that rebuilding teams trade picks for assets they often don’t plan on using all the pick they acquire.

No way in hell he gets a lot more not with what has happened financially and the cap all UFAs will be getting quite abit less than expected

No way he's getting under 7M. He has better point totals than Taylor Hall and their will be rollbacks meaning that players won't even be getting their full contracts.

Sandin should spend another year in the AHL where he can put on muscle and eat up big minutes

If going to the UFA market this year, I would take Toffoli before Hoffman. Toffoli is a Toronto guy, too. But he can play well in his zone, and would be cheaper. We need forwards who are good defensively.

But Mtl knows he doesn't want to be there, I find it pretty unlikely they'll want to acquire him, especially as a big big part of a major trade.

Right??
