Isles say no. They are not going to taking on a higher cap and give up the best player in the deal.

Holl and Mayfield are close to the same player although Holl is a better skater and puck mover. I'll keep Holl. Mayfield is extremely overrated, he's just a bottom pair defensive defender. He's valued so high on here because people are obsessed with right handed players.

As an Isles fan, he's worse than bottom pair.

Big time no from the Rangers. You aren’t getting a young cost controlled player that should be their 2C next year for a couple of middle six guys and a fourth

He's overrated because he's a RHD shot with a cheap cap hit. That's it. Piss poor puck management and has poor awareness defensively 5 on 5.

That Isles777 guy is going to go ballistic with this. According to him and his cherry picked stats every Islander is a god.

Nah. He and I agree that he's only semi-decent on the PK. He may look SLIGHTLY ok on the 2nd pair but that's mainly due to Toews.

When every analytics platform indicates that a player is elite, maybe he is...I would go look up the definition of “cherry picked”

Dude you have been super vocal that Mayfield is worth a pile of assets. Just a little troll suffering from little man syndrome.

Go find where I said mayfield is worth a pile of assets - he’s worth a 3rd rd pick at most.

Evolvingwild, natstattrick , and micah’s model are pretty reliable, wouldn’t you say?

Unless it's to the Leafs and then it would be Nylander and the Leafs retain half because Nylander is overrated.

That's regarding Pulock for Nylander and even then the Isles wouldn't make that trade either.

The problem with people that rely solely on these useful information is they 1) don't understand how to correlate the data 2) it never accounts for systems and 3) often use only parts of the data without looking at the whole and comparing it over larger sample sizes.

For the Islanders how much of any single players advance metrics are heavily influenced by the system? Carolina is similar, their structure is very good and they all buy into the system. Which is a good thing to have, it means the worst players are boosted by the best and the average guys get lifted by the system.

So a player that looks good from an advanced stats point of view on one team doesn't necessarily have the skills to succeed in other systems. For instance a big bruising, stay at home guy playing on a team that plays like the Islanders may look good from an advanced stats point of view but put him on a fast team that likes to control the puck and keep possession, he would be a disaster.

Since you don't understand that, arguing with you is fruitless and nonsensical. Half of the Islanders team (I am exaggerating) could look like absolute crap in a different system.

Nylander isn't getting traded, period. TO is in great shape, I love what they have for a roster. They just need more time with Keefe.

Everything you said is straight up confirmation bias so you don’t have to admit a player is good.

The models actually do account for systems! The coaching isolates show that trotz system is ranked 18th In the league defensively , yet pulock and toews are elite in that regard. Interesting.

Your argument doesn’t hold any weight because Leddy, boychuk, and mayfield all regressed under trotz system.

Trotz system also stifles offense, but toews is an elite play driver and pulock is also very good offensively. Makes you think 🤔 - maybe attributing a system (that isn’t kind of overrated) to a players success is just an easy way out.

I have seen plenty of leafs fans argue with you about Morgan Reilly’s defensive ability. Fun fact: he’s trash in his own end - but you don’t buy it. Your eye test is the only thing that matters and everyone else is an idiot.

Doesn’t seem like an ideal way to go through life, but what do i know
