I think Lehtonen is going to be really solid in TO's system next to Rielly. I also think Sandin and Dermott are going to be rock solid for a 3rd pair and Holl with Muzzin we already know is solid as the shutdown. The need for right handed defenceman is a media driven overblown assumption. Babs believed it was the way to go and he just never bent from his opinions. Keefe is willing to change his mind and I think the hand a player shoots is nonsense

And if it turns out that some additional help at RD is necessary, that can be addressed at the trade deadline, as @DirtyDangle says.

I agree this is most likely what next year's team will look like. What won't happen is that type of return for Johnsson, and certainly not Arizona (they cannot afford to give up a cheap defender and certainly cannot afford to take on 3.4 million in cap for a 3rd line winger). Most teams will be tight against the cap next year, and teams looking to shed salary to become cap compliant will not have a lot of options other than to sell at a discount or risk sending a player through waivers and lose them for nothing.

Doesn't have to be them but Johnsson is worth a 2nd. He's a capable player who can help teams that need scoring and speed. TO would love to keep him but unfortunately they will need to make some space. Which before the legions of trolls on here go nuts with that statement, needing to move a guy doesn't make him a cap dump. Having a guy that has no value and needing to move him is a cap dump. No one has ever gotten rid of a good player for nothing.

I think Dermott will sign 1 year 925k with extension signed during the season.

Similar to Petterrsson did with Penguins but Dermott will get less money as he is not as gifted offensively.
