Deep Ottawa Moves

Équipe: 2020-21 Sénateurs d'Ottawa
Date de création initiale: 24 mai 2020
Publié: 24 mai 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
- Sens Draft Laffy and Drysdale.
- Reilly traded to LA due to their need in LHD and Ottawa is overflowing with LHD depth.
- The Vancouver trade is a MAJOR salary dump for Vancouver while acquiring a great young RW for Ottawa and for Vancouver they get a nice young piece for the bottom six in Rudolfs Balcers who was in the Erik Karlsson deal with SJ.
- Steen trade is another cap dump in where Ottawa receives a 1st In next years draft to buy out Steen to help him stay in STL for $700K so Blues can afford to renew Alex Pietrangelo's contract.
- Sens trade 3 players rights with meddling value to buy low on two players who can bounce back In Ottawa or be used as deadline options while Arizona opens $10M in cap to attempt to retain Hall.
- Signing Brassard for C depth and maybe he sparks his career back in Ottawa? maybe another deadline option?
- Galchenyuk is another bounce back/trade deadline guy.
- Hamonic is to solidify Ottawa's RHD. Mostly a stop gap until Bernard-Docker, Thomson, or Drysdale are ready.

Trading Daccord to get a goalie who can't say healthy is a bad idea. It's extra bad because you're also bumping Marcus Hogberg out when he was our best goalie last year.

Oh I assumed Gustavsson was the guy in net, also thought Nilsson was the best?

Interesting take.

The challenge however assumes Melnyk will take on that much salary. I believe they don’t plan to top $70M this year.

I would be surprised to get Hamonic for that amount and term.

One would think that since the LA expansion, GMs all know not to give up 5 assets to get little in return...

Melnyk is ruining everything haha. Grabner trade to Toronto debunks that almost. I could add a little more on Hamonic, there's cap for that.
Ottawasean a aimé ceci.

Nilsson is a solid veteran goalie, but Hogberg was the Tankbuster. Sens nearly climbed in the standings because Hogberg always kept them in. He was a .911 before he got thrown to the wolves in his last game of the season.

Daccord was in AHL rookie save percentage this year. He was fantastic on a Belleville team with a very weak blueline most of the year. Gus has the pedigree of being a top prospect, but he's disappointed since coming to North America. He's had stretches where he looks like he could stop a bullet, but when he's not perfect he's not good enough.
