Description
Buckle up guys this is ugly!!!
This is us giving in and accepting we’re bad.
trading out asset Who wont be here when we’re back contending and taking on crappy but shorter contracts tO stock the minors and talent pool this is a 5 year rebuild meaning next 3 years are horrid playing young guys and running out the long contracts 2 years of better play and looking more like a an up and comming team and 5-7 years from now all the bad contracts are gone and we’re competing with young and fast team.

Kane s deal I think I should add a 1st and give back a 2nd but I worry his attitude and past will keep us from getting his worth.
Hertl is being traded because we only have him for 2 more seasons and then he’s a FA and we won’t be in contention so I got what I could
Meir I don’t want to trade but a smart ACGM pointed out to me that his qualifying offer after this co tract is 10m annually and I don’t think he will ever be worth 10 mill

That Toronto trade doesn't make much sense. You say you're moving out guys who won't be part of your future, then you give up 2 draft picks for a guy who will be a UFA before your 5 year timeline to compete.

Acquiring a trade asset / player who can be moved after having better year not a bad move. If Johnsson isn’t there long term, if he has a 20-25 goal season on the first line you can get a pick and a prospect back. If not - could likely get the picks back.

I wish I could but no one Is touching that stupidity Karlsson a contract is a team destroyer.

He’s young and talented we Can swap him for a nice cache later plus he’s young enough he would be in his prime in 5 years if we keep him

Except his qualifying offer in a few years is 10+ mil and he’s not worth that much. I’d rather get what I can for him now
