I think the isles will re-sign Andy Greene to a 1 year deal. Zadorov would be on the islanders 3rd pairing so I wouldn’t want to give up one of our better forward prospects when our prospect pool isn’t that deep.

I dont think Detroit will retain 1.45M for 3 years for a low 3rd round pick.

The Jets probably dont take Cole. They need RHD not LHD.

Basically the trades and signing are all very optimistic.

If you had Pietranglo signing for 10M I'd say yes he probably takes that. 9M I doubt it.

Add that to the fact that you basically got maximum value and won every single trade.

I'd say this is pretty unrealistic

Regarding Killorn. His M NTC probably really limits the number of realistic teams he could be traded. Tampa looks really cap strapped and Killorn might be about the moderately high cap player that can be traded. The Avs just might not have any competition for his services. His return to the Tampa will be very low.
Can't see the Avs going to cap limit with signing of Pietrangelo. That's an issue for Pietrangelo. Few quality teams have the cap to sign him. Big money to spend on Makar next season, Avs pass on Pietrangelo.

I figured that the Zadorov ask was a bit high, but the point was more that he would get moved for a prospect/futures.

You could make the pick Detroit get a 2nd from Tampa instead then, easy fix.

I think Tampa takes that trade as they'd be getting a 1st for Killorn at the expense of a 2nd. Good upgrade.

I saw a Jets fan propose Cole for a 3rd which is why I used that. I figure that they can use a 4/5 LHD capable of heavy defensive minutes to insulate Heinola a bit.

Pietrangelo's options will be limited this offseason, so if he wants to play on a competitive team his options will likely be to stay in St. Louis or to sign with Colorado. The difference between $9m and $10m on a 7 year contract is $70m versus $63m. I think Pietrangelo could live with $7 less if it meant having 7 years of playing on a top contender in a nice city.

Winning every trade? Paying a 1st for Killorn is a more than fair trade given that Killorn can block trades to 16 teams.

What do you think Compher gets? A 2nd + 3rd for a very good 3rd liner/middle 6 forward/3C seems reasonable.

Kamenev is a 4th or a 5th, I went with a 4th because it's a year away in 2021.

Zadorov trade I agree might be a bit high return, but the point is more that Colorado receives a prospect in return rather than it being Holmstrom in particular.

I agree about the Killorn return. As mentioned int he "additional notes" part of the trade I think a 2nd + B prospect gets it done. However, with retention I think it might bump it up to a late 1st as Killorn @$3m would have more teams able to trade for him compared to at his full cap hit.

I don't see any reason why Colorado shouldn't try to sign Pietrangelo. Yes, it does push them up capwise, but as I outlined in the description there are straightforward measures that can be taken to sign Makar and Landeskog. Sakic will remember the impact Rob Blake had when joining the Avs at age 30, and I'm sure he'll be very keen to replicate that by signing Pietrangelo to give his team a great shot at winning some cups the next 3 years.

I see no way TB retains on any contract.
Especially for 3 years.

TB is what happens when a stupid GM gives every player under the sun a NMC/NTC.
That team is so cap strapped next year it's not even funny.

Did you not read the additional notes on the Killorn trade above? Tampa wouldn't be retaining anything.

yeah i threw that idea out as well. Because detroit isn't going to do that either.
Even though Detroit has a lot of cap space available this might be one of the best off seasons for detroit to use their cap space and get way more out of it than this.
Not only can they finally fix their defense, but teams will be looking to make deals that offer them much more than this.

Would a 2nd round pick appease Detroit for ~$1-1.5m in capspace that they aren't likely to use anyways the coming 3 years? That seems like reasonable value to me.

FYI Compher was Captain at Michigan not Michigan State, And why would Detroit retain $1.45 million on Alex Killorn for the next 3 seasons for a measly 3rd round pick?

Thanks for the correction. In hindsight a 2nd + prospect might be more appropriate for a retention.
